- Requests or links to illegal material will not be tolerated.
This is not a warez site! Links/Requests to warez and/or illegal material (porn, cracks, serials, etc.) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing WGA/activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will also not be tolerated.
Respect the requests of companies who do not permit redistribution of their products without express permission - including unmodified hotfix/feature pack packages. Download sources for official software should be from the vendor directly where possible. Posts made containing this type of content may be removed immediately without warning, and offenders may be banned on first violation. - This community is built upon mutual respect.
You are not allowed to flame other members. People who do not respect personal opinions and/or personal work will be warned in the first instance. You are expected to be mature when discussing in threads. Racism, pornography, threatening, excessive profanity towards members, excessive vulgarity, or inappropriate usernames are not tolerated. If you ignore the warning and keep on flaming, you will be banned without notice. - Guidelines for avatars, signatures and custom user titles.
Avatars are a luxury for the members to have. Avatars can be a maximum of 100x100 and 80KB in size. Avatars can also be in any of the following formats: gif, jpg, jpeg, png.
Signatures can be a maximum of 500x125 and 80KB in size. You may have six lines of text in your signature at the standard text size. Advertising in your signature is not allowed. Forum signatures are to be used respectfully, so do not annoy our members by making your signature into some sort of web ad.
Any signatures found to be attached to a thread and used as a signature host is not allowed and will be removed. Members with slow connections can disable other members signatures when reading posts by going to: Your Username > My Settings > Forums > View/Posting/Email Prefs. You can also click here.
Custom user titles are not to be abused. Vulgarity, racism or flaming in member titles will not be tolerated.
Inappropriate content includes as follows:- Too large or the file size exceeds recommended size.
- Pornographic, violent or otherwise offensive images, language etc. This may include racist remarks, slander etc...
- If the avatar/signature is overly distracting, i.e. bright flashing colors, animated avatars/signatures (i.e. gif/Flash)
- Audio. These are distracting for our members, so please do not have audio in your signature.
- Please do not include signature links of a malicious nature. Examples are those that crash your browser, trigger popup floods or emulate BSOD's.
- Do not contain links to, or use your signature to link to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes: warez, cracks, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, ebay listings and requesting personal donations.
Abusing these privileges will result in them being lost and your account being restricted. - Too large or the file size exceeds recommended size.
- Don't post your question under multiple topics.
Think before posting and choose the right forum for your question or answer. Also be sure to use the Search feature. When posting; have something to say, not just "My first post!" or "Cool site!!!" We sort of have the idea by now.
- Political debate topics are prohibited.
Unless technology related, all topics devoted to political debate are prohibited. Lunarsoft is a technology forum and political debates have caused many problems and distractions in the past. Political links in signatures and polite, courteous comments in non-political topics are allowed; but we cannot allow any topics in which the sole purpose is to debate political issues. - Academic assistance or "cheating" on assignments is forbidden.
Requesting help with academic material, such as assignments, is not permitted on Lunarsoft. Receiving such help is often viewed as plagiarism in many schools, and therefore cannot be allowed. This is for your own protection in your academic career.
- Don't post your question under multiple topics.
- File and image attachments in posts.
If you need to attach something, it'd be great if you could find a host for the file. Please only attach something if you absolutely have no other option. Do not post screenshots within threads that exceed 300x200 in resolution and 50KB in size. Provide a link to the image and host it on your own webspace if possible. Always keep in mind we have several members on 56k and loading a thread with a few large screenshots can be quite slow for them. This will help keep Lunarsoft running smoothly for our members.
If you do not have personal webspace try any of the following: - Unacceptable Forum or News comments.
While some members feel that post count is important, there are some posts that do not contribute to the community in any way whatsoever. Below is a list of unacceptable posts. If you wish to direct a fellow member to something that has already been posted, please do so in a courteous manner.- "Old news" or anything similar.
- "(Insert product or brand) sucks" or anything similar.
- "I posted this x days ago!!!" or anything similar.
- "Old news" or anything similar.
- Spamming will not be tolerated.
Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic. Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion. We do keep a log of all IP traffic that comes in and out of this site. We will report spamming to your ISP! - Respect a topic that a member has made active again.
Please do not bash old topics when a member has made it active again. Usually it's been made active for a good reason such as to answer an unanswered question, or to bring new information. It does not need to be closed or deleted. - Use meaningful titles for your topics.
Please refrain from using CAPITALIZATIONS in the topic title or when participating in threads because they will not attract attention - instead it will annoy many of Lunarsoft's members.
Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about.
For example:- Oh no!
- I'm mad
- Question
- I need your help
- Hmm...
This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific and descriptive in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.
A few good examples:- Strange problem with DirectX9c redist.
- Computer has extremely slow startup.
- Change Internet Explorer's titlebar back to default.
- Oh no!
- No buying, selling or trading.
No user shall by any means of the forum: sell, trade or give away hardware, software, or any other non consumer electronic related material. Lunarsoft does not support any type of trade and shall not be held accountable. - Lunarsoft reserves the right to edit, delete or move posts made on this site.
Has the thread you started or participated in been moved, closed or deleted? Check with the forum moderator via PM. We ask that members respect the decision of moderators and administrators. Under no circumstances start threads asking why other threads were moderated. Forum moderation is not up for public debate, such threads will be deleted and the thread starter warned. Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action taken (up to and including forum bans) against the thread starter and/or participants. However, as a member you reserve the right to PM any moderator or administrator regarding action taken at Lunarsoft. - Lunarsoft reserves the right to change or alter these rules at any time and an Administrator's word is final.
Note: Any violation of these guidelines will result in a warning placed against your Lunarsoft account and will be added to your overall warning level.
