I read the topic "Turn your name into a face" and immediatly thought; wow that's silly.

Then I clicked on the link, and thought "hey, this is pretty cool".
It is kind of like an identicon.

I guess most non-geeks wouldn't appreciate it. They think its boring, ugly, and useless.
But I think its pretty cool, I can understand the thought about it, and look at it from a programming point-of-view.
You could have a forum where everyone has an assigned visual avatar that is generated for them.
