Limiting image size and dimensions in posts.

Please do not post screenshots within threads that exceed 300x200 in resolution and 50kb in size. Provide a link to the image and host it on your own webspace if possible. If you do not have personal webspace try KwikPiks or ImageShack. Always keep in mind we have several members on 56k and loading a thread with a few large screenshots can be quite slow for them.

How to Post a Screenshot

This is a how-to tutorial on for posting screenshots on Internet forums. In this tutorial we use ImageShack.

Capturing your screen
  • Press and hold Alt while pressing Prt Scrn. You can also press Prnt Scrn to capture the entire screen.
  • Open Paint or your preferred image editing program. A shortcut to Microsoft Paint can be done by pressing the Windows key + R, then typing mspaint in the Run box.
  • Paste the image into your graphic editing program. (Ctrl + V or Edit -> Paste)
  • Click File
  • Click Save As...
  • Name your image and click Save. It is recommended to save it as a jpeg/jpg (*.jpg, *.jpeg), gif (*.gif) or png (*.png).

Hosting your image

Go to Imageshack

Click Browse

Browse to the location of the image on your computer.

Click Host it

You will now see a list of options.

Click once in the second one.

Getting the BBCode

The line of text will now be highlighted.

Right Click

Click Copy

Inserting BBCode into forum post

Right Click in the forum message box.

Click Paste

Making your post

Click Preview Post below the message box to make sure your image displays correctly. Many forums prefer that users allow the thumbnail of the image to show and when clicked it opens the image in a new window.

If the image shows up properly, click Post New Topic.
