  1. It's the last day of the year here in England, so can I wish everyone at Lunarsoft a VERY HAPPY new year!!!
  2. I like Ewido so much I paid
  3. As Lunarsoft does not have a "product" to run the forum for, (such as ccleaner does) it has been interesting to see the way the forum has developed. There now seems to be a better balance about the forum, with the social side quite strongly developed and the assistance side almost up there with it. I had concerns a few weeks back about new members being reluctant to post what they consider may have been looked on as trivial matters to the obviously talented "staff". Also it's a very close knit community here!! However these concerns are almost gone. My hope is for this balance which has been arrived at, to be sustained. This is a great forum with a good future.
  4. Hello trish and welcome to lunarsoft! :cuddle:
  5. CaPMan's post was very well done. Anyone will be able to post a screenshot now. What made it good is the instuctions were written in plain English, and did not assume the user had any prior knowledge of the subject.
  6. Tried extreme pingu Bio, managed 547 1.6!
  7. At last I have my external hard drive up and running. The main problem was the manual was translated ( sort of ) from Japanese. I eventually spoke to Philips tech support who were really good, apologised for the manual, and sorted things out. There was a problem as I didn't know then ( I do now! ) that the file system for xp is NTFS and not FAT32. It's amazing how much tearing your hair out steepens your learning curve.
  8. My husband got a car windscreen cover, special coating on top and special lining underneath. It rained Boxing Day and then started to freeze, he put the cover on. Next morning we go out to set off to some relatives, but the cover seemed to be welded to the car. He pulled hard, then ripped hard. Result... we had to drive with the car covered in a white furry coating which floated off as we made our journey.
  9. I just loved the penguin one!
  10. Nice to see you again senuty, glad your just on holiday and not ill or anything!
  11. Thanks for answering gentlemen. The manual is the same as the one I got with the hardrive (Philips SPD5100CC) I just can't work out wether to follow instuctions for the quick format, or the other instructions for the format! The quick format seems to be, well, just press format, whereas the format involves words like partition.
  12. I have got an external hardrive in the sales. It a Philips 160gb. The manual is written with English as the second language, and some of the instructions seem to be in the wrong order. I have a couple of questions I would love some help with. 1. It says Quick Format, do I have to do this when I want to clear stuff all off the new hardrive at some time in the future? 2.It then says at the end of the maual HOW TO FORMAT THIS DISC.... start/settings/control panel/admin tools/comp management/disk management/right click unallocated/choose new partition/next/accept primary partition/accept size given/accept drive letter/choose NTFS file system and give name under volume label(?)/finish. Is this correct, and do I have to do this before I put anything on the hardrive?
  13. A couple of questions, 1. Do I leave it plugged in or use it like a usb stick and use when I need to put something on it. 2. How do I scan it for viruses? Does my e-trust etc. automatically scan it when its plugged in? Thank you :cuddle:
  14. There is a possibility that in the near future I will get an external hardrive. The sort of thing I'm wanting is a easy install (plug and play?) thing. Around 80gig or more depending on cost. Any advice on features to look out for would be most welcome.
  15. You can tell it's almost here as I am online instead of in bed early so that I'm not too tired to get all the letters delivered! ( I work for the postal service) Hope everyone gets what they want, with lots of happiness and fun. Have a GREAT xmas everyone.
  16. Good idea about a directory to regular members only. Have PM'd CaPman with mine.
  17. Have a nice Xmas Texas and come back on here as soon as you can!
  18. Santa will turn up despite the facts here! Santa has to deliver to 378m children and, accepting a family average of 3.5, this means 108m home visits. He has about 31 hours to get this done, because of the different time zones, which works out at 967.7 visits per second. "This is to say that for each Christian household with a good child, Santa has around 1/1000th of a second to park the sleigh, hop out, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, jump into the sleigh and get on to the next house," says the assesment. The total trip will be 75m miles, not counting bathroom stops or breaks. "This means Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second - 3,000 times the speed of sound. A conventional reindeer's top speed is 15 miles per hour." The toy load and reinforced sleigh are calculated at 600,000 tons: a lot for any kind of sleigh to carry which has to be pulled by nine reindeer, counting Rudolf. Children should look away now. "Six hundred thousand tons travelling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance," the premise goes. "This would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft re-entering the Earth's atmosphere. The lead pair would absorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each. They would burst into flames and the entire reindeer team would be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second, about the time Santa reached the fifth house on his trip. "Not that it matters since Santa, as a result of accelerating from a dead stop to 650 mps in .001 seconds, would be subjected to acceleration forces of 17,500 gs. He would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force, instantly crushing him. Therefore, if Santa did exist, he's dead now." Oh ye of little faith. All this speculation and G-forces are total nonsense and I say Humbug to the Ministry of Scrooge. This rumour will not run because everyone knows Santa and his reindeer are not ruled by the laws of science. They live in the world of magic, as everyone from two to 92 knows. I guarantee Santa will make every delivery on time this year, as always.
  19. There are some words in the English language, in groups of three, that can be spelt differently, sound the same, but have different meanings. Can anyone add to these as I need some more for a quiz I am doing! too two to buy bye by ewe you yew way weigh whey rain reign rein
  20. Hi Ryan, Glad to see you dropped in again, even though you did call me and Tarun old!!! ( Read your post )
  21. DJ.... point taken, will do it using a disc image. rridgley.. downloaded burnatonce, cannot get the key needed to make the dvd plugin work.
  22. I may be missing something here, but is there something in XP that allows me to burn a dvd copy of my own straight to another drive without having to burn to the hard drive first?
  23. Yesterday I took my grandaughter to the theatre to see a pantomime..., and I wondered if you have the same tradition in the US. In pantos over here, ( which are only at Xmas ) the leading man is always played by a lady!
