  1. It was loaded with 7.10, had no problems with recognising the wireless adaptor card. I upgraded to 8.04 and it wouldn't recognise the card. I loaned it out and the guy tried to get it working instead of a cable connection. Messed it up, so I tried to reload. I think I just might wait until 8.10 is released and get the CD. Thanks!!
  2. I posted this on the Ubuntu forums about 2 weeks ago and never got a response. This is a Dell latitude C840 laptop. It is one of my loaner laptops and really need to get it loaded. I have 2 7.10 install disks, the hdd has been completely wiped and formatted twice, get the same results. I had to reinstall 7.10. Installation gets just past the screens of file checking and the screen gets short horizontal lines with a small garbled box in the top left corner. The install stops there. Any ideas?? Thanks!
  3. Hey all, I have both 2003 Pro. Enterprise and 2007 Pro Plus disk sets. They are volume licensed for students and faculty. My question is: Does anyone know how many PC's they are allowed to be installed on? The version of office XP Por that I have I've installed on several PC's, no complaining from either Microsoft or Office. Thanks!
  4. I have 4 gig of dual-channel in my system. Which makes gaming rather interresting to say the least!!
  5. That is wierd, this is a buisness comp, and was hit with a download trojan. I takes atleast 5 min for it to shut-down on it's own, among other wierd stuff. Any ideas? As for Norton, the subscription will be up in a couple of months anyway. I'm thinking of replacing it with either NOD32 or Kaspersky's anti-virus.

  7. Well, I got ya on that one-- other than the window and the door, the rest is steel, NOT aluminum. I agree on the cost, concidering that that case was about $60 USD new.(I get discounts)
  8. This is what I do when the same thing happens: Wrtie down the program name and manufacturer (such as Symantec and Norton) Open regedit, and do a search for all of the occurences of the program, delete the keys. Then go to program files and delete the folders, reboot, re-search the registry.
  9. The tower I just put together is high-gloss black, it is a sidewinder XG.
  10. She is a pretty young lady New_Age. You had better treat her good or we will find you and cook you up for supper! :D
  11. Alot of the newer good PS's are pretty quiet, I'd sugges checking the manufacurers website for the specs. Look for the dB number--lower is better. Sounds like you have a Seagate HDD, they always have had a whine.
