G'day Lordoftheweb,
one of the easiest and quickest ways to get an avatar is:
1. Find an image on the web that you want to use,
2. Right click on it,
3. Save it to your system,
4. Resize it to whatever dimensions the forum allows,
5. Then upload.
Cheers
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
ok, this is closer to what i was looking for. Now i guess my question is, how do i resize a picture (i believe the dimensions allowed are posted in forum rules).
thanks!

Hello all!
Wondering how my log comes up? Is it clean, and if not/if so, what should i delete, both viruses/spyware, and stuff that i dont need running.
I ran the package execept for the mspsyware, but i did use the trendmicro and spyware doctor, blaster, spybot, adaware, ewido, etc.
thank you.

Hi Tarun, I was just curious.
You seem to know what you are talking about on pretty much everything computer related. I was wondering what formal education you have taken to learn about computers, and how much was from visiting forums, etc.?
As well, two things. How long have you been at it, and two, what would you suggest for someone to do to learn more about computers, software etc.? Specifically, is there an online school that you personally know about that offers courses that are not too technical for newbies?
Thanks.
;)
-
and the registry cleaners? do you not use any, or do you just not like these ones?
;)
-
Its all paid for. But why the registry cleaners? On the other thread you addressed the ccleaner vs. window washer item, and since I paid for spyware doctor, i will keep it.
Now, i will dump the avg. i will try the etrust for a year. if i dont like it, i can always go back, and if it is as good as you say, i can buy the paid version.
And about the spyware guard. I see it promoted on a lot of sites. Do you have a reasoning behind dumping it? Its just that there are so many conflicting opinions I like to know the reasons for them.
as for the ewido, is that a trial version? should i buy the full version, or is the trial (after the full period expires) still pretty good?
thanks!
oh, does etrust not do what ewido does? thanks. ;)
-
Yes, that is the one I meant. Have you done an actual comparison on the two programs, and/or do you have any experience with windows washer?
As well, what does ccleaner do that windows washer doesnt? I am kind of trying out different things in the search for the best "fit" for me.
thanks for the reply. ;)
-
What do you all think of Trendmicros new anti spyware online (free) scanner?
-
This is what I am currently using to combat virus, spyware, keep things smooth, etc.
Window washer
avg free
spybot
adaware
spyware doctor
spyware blaster
spyware guard
ie spyad
zone alarm firewall
1 click maintenance
windows registry repair pro
tune up utilities 2004
executive software diskkeeper
i also run trendmicros online antivirus periodically.
anything here that you think i dont need, and/or anything that i should add?
-
What do you all think of Windows washer, and how does it compare to ccleaner?
-
I consider what others whom viewed the site may think of the thread, so I removed it completely. I got osme good advice.
But it's done with, dealt with, and he is now...
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
LOL! Dude I've been with my wife for 15 years-bet your lady was the one that "gave the good advice".
I can understand why you got mad at YoKenny, but the flaming thread was probably not the most mature and/or progressive way in responding. I didnt actually see all of the posts by YoKenny, so I cant speak to the issue fully, but I do think it was the right thing to remove the thread. Too bad my tasteless jokes had to go too...... ;)
-
I had to go back to work, and when i came back, the whole thread was gone! And here I thought there was going to be some more funny stuff added. Oh well, back to maturity for us all. ;)

G'day folks,
Heh, only 5 hours difference huh? We're I'm from, it's currently 0830am (at time of posting), therefore making it 9.30pm London and 4:30pm NY time, both days for you folk being Sunday, whilst it's already Monday for me :le sigh:
Hey, I guess that makes me a time traveller then? Hmmmm, wonder if I can turn this to my advantage by getting the Lotto numbers early???........
Cheers
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We use it in Canada as well. ;)

Does anyone know of some SAFE links with lots of free wallpapers? I like anything from nature, animals (kids love em), and freaky stuff, psychedelic.
thanks. ;)

Japan is the only industrialized advanced nation that does not adhere to daylight savings time. In Canada, various provinces are following suit to match the US move on daylight savings. The reason for the changes to daylight savings is environmental and cost-more daylight earlier in the year, has been predicted to save the economy millions in energy bills.
-
Thats a great idea to put it all together. I will email the link to my various contact lists.
-
actually i have it all hitched up and am trying it out right now. if i decide i dont like it, it can go back, no problem-apparently others would like to get it too.
-
curious, how long did it take to make it?
-
LOL! Sounds like my day. Woke up at 5:30 (about an hour later than usual), got to work for 7, came home for a lunch, well my wife took our daughter to gymnastics "dont worry, the little guy wont wake up, i need you to watch him". Well he woke up, took a huge dump which I had to clean while cooking lunch, my pager is buzzing like a hornets nest, cell phone is ringing, home phone is ringing, little guy is hungry, making him a bottle, wife finally gets home, i zip back out to work, finish work at 5, huge log jam of traffic downtown, get home at 6, wife has plans, picked up at 6:10, kids are both sleeping, daughter wakes up and has a 45 minute fit that mommy is gone out, little guy wakes up, trying to feed them both, comfort her with cartoons, brother in law pops by with computer stuff for me, gotta get kids to bed. its now after 9, things are quiet, boy is snoozing, daughter is almost out on couch, and i got 12 hour day at work tomorrow.
one day very soon, i hope to sleep..... ;)
Virus/trojan finding software
in Software
Posted
Ok, i had avg. it found a virus/trojan in a file i had downloaded off of the net (ironically, it was a book on hacking :eyeroll: ). anyways, i moved it to the virus vault. then i downloaded ewido. ewido found 2 trojans. i then got rid of avg and downloaded etrust and scanned as part of the set up. it didnt find the trojans that avg and ewdio found, but it did find 4 items that are actually a program called "l2fix" in a folder on my external drive. that file has been there for a long time and has been scanned by numerous virus scanners-no problem. so what gives? why conflicting findings from 3 different programs?
just an observation.
