  1. I intend on seeing it. I read the book (along with lord of the rings) in elementary school. Lewis and Tolkien were actually friends, so if you see similarities between the two contemporaries, this is why.

on a side note, the narnia movie was made into a movie in 90, and the lotr was made into a cartoon in the seventies. I got them all, including the lotr record, books and have even seen the plays (including the hobbit-circa 1937).

These are what started the whole dungeons and dragons sort of thing (for you young wippersnappers, i believe it is wizards of the coast that owns the rights now). Gygax (one of d and d founders) was a visionary in creating a lotr kind of game.

Lets wait and see if they make a Thieves World movie. :cuddle:

  2. partitioning is separating your drive into separate components which you can access separately. I partitioned my second one, and name one "Movies", and the second one "Games". I then have a short cut to each on my desktop for easy access to the applicable application. I dont know if that helps. :cuddle:

  3. Not sure on number 1, but you do have to format the hard drive prior to using it. Mine came with a disk and i just put it in and followed the prompts. My first one i did so long ago, i cant really remember how i did it, but i got the instructions off a forum (i cant remember which one). I do remember it was quite easy once you are shown.

  4. In my location, police officers are paid at the same level as nurses, teachers, firefighters, etc. Without overtime, its 65,000 per year (approximately 33 dollars per hour). Paid benefits (medical, dental, drug coverage, 15 sick days per year), excellent pension, lots of vacation, etc. This is better than most of the working class population.

Now while I believe that police officers earn every penny they make, keep in mind that you have a higher chance of being killed on the job in many other occupations. Truck drivers, rig workers, ship building, steel workers, etc.

I think the hardest part of being a police officer would be the emotional aspect from dealing with people that are less than savory day in and day out (like your sick stupid people out there).

  5. I think if someone is sick enough to be interested and/or involved in possessing/distributing/creating child pornography, they are beyond rehabilitation. I cant see someone involved in this moving on to a productive and normal life. :cuddle:

  6. i scan them just like my regular hard drive. i usually scan a file prior to putting them in the external, so i feel confident they are clean.

Both of mine are always plugged into the computer via usb 2.0. one of them does not have an on/off switch, so is continuously running, the other has a switch and i turn it off when not in use. neither gets hot so i am not worried.

i have read both sides of the argument whether or not to turn off or leave on, and i think the jury is still out. i figure that when one of them dies, i will know what i should (or should have been) do. :cuddle:

  7. I have two of them Hazelnut, and they are great. USB 2.0 connection external. I opted for 250 gb so as to have a lot of room to grow (one is full already). i have western digital 8mb, 7200 rpm. there is better and faster, but dollar for dollar this is good for me. its fast enough and they have both been reliable.

some people i know bought the external cases that contain fans. neither of mine do, and they are not even warm to the touch, so i dont worry about heat.

these things are great. i have all my info on my externals and its great so that when fooling around with something, i just detatch the external so if i get a virus or crash something, i dont lose important (to me) stuff.

mine cost about 250 dollars each including tax and the case. but thats in Canada.

  9. Tarun and I are probably the biggest AIM junkies on here, if my computer is on i'm on... and my comp is on a lot =P

I'm probably an average of 14 hours as well.

Dont you guys have to work? :cuddle:

  10. Has anyone used this software or something like it? I installed it and it shows me X amount of drivers that need updating. But it requires a subscription to download the drivers from the site. So I have been googling the drivers and found several of them and reran the tests and I am still missing some-but not as many.

Does anyone know of a program/site that will detect outdated drivers on my computer and let me download the updated ones for free?

    :cuddle:

  11. OK DUDES! I thought I would try a link after i ran djlizards dial a fix, and it worked! Good freaking times! punk.gifpunk.gif

    DJLIZARD, YOU ROCK! punk.gifpunk.gif

I am so happy! I am going to tell everyone about your cool program! Funny thing is, i really dont know what it did, but it fixed my problem, so I am ecstatic!

  12. ok, i did the dial a fix thing and tried the fix ie thing. cant find the file it asks for (cant find the folder 1386 or whatever either). hmmmm.

now i have no idea what a slipstream sp2 is.

should i remove via add/remove programs sp2 first, or just hit the link above and download and install?
