  9. Over the past several days I have reviewed the performance of the Lunarsoft Forums. Upon reviewing the network activity and how resources are loaded I have gone through and optimized the loading of all the Lunarsoft resources. The number of requests on the page has been lowered and over 30KB has been removed from the page loads. The page load times on test are down from 1.5s to 1.1s. While not much to a single person just consider the number of spiders and guests who also browse the site. This means the overall number or resources being loaded will drop down allowing for faster load times for

  19. A recent update has come out for the StopForumSpam hook that is used here. It allows for better control and handling of potential spammers. This includes allowing potential false positives or those who are linked to an IP that at one time was spam to still register. There will be a few tests done with this new update to find what works optimally. As always, if you see a spam post or even a potential spam post please report it. Don't reply to the spammer or comment on how the automated spam bot has bumped a thread, etc.

They confirmed it was fine to continue updating. 158 bugs have been fixed. I have changed the hook used on the forums from one that used only StopForumSpam to a new one that will use both StopForumSpam and Project Honeypot to check for and stop spammers from registering. While this system is not perfect, it will help catch and prevent the majority from registering. Using the previous hook, there were over 15,000 spammers stopped. However, the hook was bugged at one point and did not track all of the spammers caught. So this number is bound to be much higher.
