Question on RAM

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My brother is buying new RAM for his MoBo and he offered to give a 512(PC3200) Stick to me. I was wondering would it work on my MOBO. Link is provided below and I can already tell you that my MoBo doesn't support Dual Channel. It's just one stick hes giving me though. I already understand by putting in a PC3200 stick on a supported DDR333 MoBo will just down grade to a PC2700.

My MoBo

That one stick is from a Dual Channel kit he bought off NewEgg.

It says "dual-channel" is an architecture on the motherboard, but the memory does not need to support it, since there is nothing to support.

So your brothers memory stick that was part of a kit, is just a standard normal ordinary memory stick sold as a kit.

I believe you can use the memory on your computer, even though your motherboard does not support the dual-channel architecture.

So it will work? Nothing will happen to damage my MoBo right?
