I'm the administrator on my compuetr. I had a virus on my laptop that Webroot removed. When I click on system restore, it says I don't have sifficient security privileges to run this tool. How can I get access to system restore?

After a bit of searching, you can repair your permissions by doing this command:

To restore your operating system to the original installation default security settings, follow these steps:

Click Start > Run > type cmd and press Enter or click Ok.

Windows XP:

In the command prompt enter: secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose

Windows Vista/7:

In the command prompt enter: secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

You receive a "Task is completed" message and a warning message that something could not be done. You can safely ignore this message. For more information about this message, see the %windir%\Security\Logs\Scesrv.log file.

At the bottom of the link it said For online "Help about Secedit, click Start, click Run, type %windir%\help\secedit.chm, and then press ENTER." It came back that windows could not find Secedit.

You can either get it from this download link or from your Windows install cd.

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-public/tools/SCM/SCESP4I.EXE

Put your Windows Install cd in and run these commands:

expand X:\i386\secedit.ex_ c:\windows\system32\secedit.exe

expand X:\i386\secedit.ch_ c:\windows\help\secedit.chm

Replace X with your CD drive letter.
