An error occurred during registration of the file: scrrun.dll

Featured Replies

When using Dial-A-Fix v0.60.0.24 and selecting "Programming core/runtimes" I'm getting an error that says:

An error occurred during registration of the file: C:\Windows\system32\scrrun.dll(version 5.6.0.8820)

the next dialog says

Error 0x80004005: 'Unspecified error'. This object might be corrupted (try SFC /purgecache and SFC /scannow in the tools dialog) or try to find a replacement for this file

Contact dial-a-fix@DjLizard.net for more assistance.

After running SFC /purgecache and SFC /scannow it didn't fix the problem.

I downloaded scrrun.dll and that didn't fix the problem.

I downloaded Scripting Engine 5.6 for Windows XP WindowsXP-Windows2000-Script56-KB917344-x86-enu.exe

During the installation I received an error:

INF Install failure Access is denied

What can I do to fix the Access is denied error and get the scripting Engine installed?

I'm running XP Pro sp2 logged in as Administrator

Thank you,

Docfxit

The error code is "access denied", so perhaps running Process Explorer (sysinternals) while attempting to run DAF and looking for the access denied in PE when you see it on screen would give some insight as to what's failing?
