eldercompmom Posted July 27, 2008 Share Posted July 27, 2008 Dial-A-Fix version V0.60.0.24. After Firefox and Zone Alarm and Microsoft KB951748 updates internet quit working completely. Previously had to shut down ZA to get on internet. Uninstalled KB951748 but didn't help. Tried to uninstall Zone Alarm but it would not uninstall. Now computer will not shut down, word and other applications hang. Tried Dial-A-Fix, which has worked before, but it hung also. Tried it again and got error -2147023824 while trying to register C:\Windows\system32\wuaueng.dll. The error text is: The specified service has been marked for deletion. DjLizard Posted July 29, 2008 Share Posted July 29, 2008 Windows wants to delete it next time you reboot. Go ahead and restart the computer. Then immediately use Dial-a-fix and the same sections you checked before (especially Fix Windows Update) and see what happens now (it will probably work). Then, click Flush SoftwareDistribution and choose whether you want to save the update history or not (I usually don't but the feature to save history was requested). NOTE: Don't click Flush if you hadn't yet run "Fix Windows Update" which puts the service back after you rebooted. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
