Siemens AG is developing thin, flexible, low-cost electronic displays they foresee being used on such things as packaging and admission tickets.

At the Plastics Electronics trade fair in Frankfurt, Siemens developers exhibited miniature color displays that can be printed on paper or foil. These can be produced at very low cost compared to LCD panels. They are expected to be on the market by 2007.

The displays operate using electrochromic substances, materials that change color when an electrical voltage shifts charges in their molecules.
