Failed to install catalogue files

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have run Dial-A-Fix and when I try to install SP3 in XP after a long time it comes up with "Failed to install catalogue files"

Any ideas?

Update,

I found the "Reinstall Automatic Updates Service" tool in Dial a fix and I ran that and now when I go to the Windows Update page I get the following message "Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. To continue: Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)" I lcik the button and it looks like it is installing them then when i get back to the update page it happens again, over and over.

Any ideas??

The automated fix (WUFix) performs the following functions:

Clears out the proxy cache, places Windows Update sites in the Trusted Zone, places Windows Update sites in the exception list of IE Popup Blocker, starts all dependent services, registers required DLLS, empties the Windows Update temporary folder (with backup), renames the catroot2 folder, retains update history and Event log, and deletes BITS pending download queue.

Automated Windows Update Fix

Download WUFix.zip and unzip to your desktop.

Double-Click WUFix.bat to run fix.

You will see a window open and commands processing. When the window closes the fix will have completed.
