This project, based on the Scintilla edit component, written in C++ with pure win32 api and STL that ensures the higher execution speed and smaller size of the program. Notepad++ supports the following languages: C, C++, Java, C#, XML, HTML, PHP, javascript, RC resource file, makefile, ASCII art file, doxygen, ini file, batch file, ASP, VB/VBS source files, SQL, Objective-C, CSS, Pascal, Perl, Python and Lua. James_A Posted July 10, 2009 Share Posted July 10, 2009 Notepad++ is great. I use it on a daily basis to edit files that are 1000's of lines long. It puts an "Edit with Notepad++" entry in the right-click (context) menu and works well with all types of text files, not just the languages listed above. The smart highlighting works with .REG files for example. You can open multiple files in tabs - tabs appear along the top like they do in Firefox. If you haven't updated your copy of Notepad++ for a year or two, there have been some welcome improvements in usability and stability. I've had it crash occasionally but, so far, never lost any data.
