According to various sources this update fixes two problems:

1. the Zero Day Exploit in the Just-in-Time (JIT) JavaScript compiler
   
2. the slow launch bug in the Windows version (up to 30 seconds for some users)
   

If you disabled the JIT compiler, don't forget to re-enable it after this update, by resetting:

javascript.options.jit.content = True

in about:config.
