1984
Hello, I am looking for a PDF reader-something that will automatically read a PDF when I click on it. I want the least bloated and most simple download that wont slow down my computer. Any suggestions and a link for a freeware version? I dont need anything fancy, just a simple reader. Thanks! greenknight
For a simple, lightweight free PDF reader I suggest Foxit PDF Reader: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
1984
that looks like what i need. Does it use less resources than Adobe Reader? Thank you.
greenknight
It's a lot smaller program, and uses a lot less resources, than Adobe Reader; of course, most programs use less resources than Adobe Reader. For those who still need or want Adobe's functions, but would like to speed it up from the snail-like pace at which it loads, there's a program available that disables the Adobe plug-ins that almost nobody uses. This makes a major difference in loading time. The program is creatively named Adobe Reader Speed-Up, I highly recommend it: http://www.tnk-bootblock.co.uk/prods/misc/

greenknight
You're welcome. Foxit is plenty adequate if you just want to read pdfs, I mostly tossed in the Adobe Reader Speedup link in case somebody else stumbled across this thread who needed more than that.
