SSL issue

I use two comptuers at work (one desktop and one laptop). On the desktop I can get to secure sites just fine, however, this is not the case for my laptop. My laptop is running XP Pro SP3 and while at work I cannot get to secure sites at all, but once I am at home I can get to the secure sites. Now my desktop and laptop site in the same subnet at work (in fact just one number is different in the last octet of the IP) and they go through the same proxy. I downloaded DAF on the laptop and it did not work. Does anyone have any other suggestions. The only thing difference in the to computers is the desktop is running Vista. Thanks in advanced.

"I cannot get to secure sites at all" is not very informative.

It should be "I cannot do X because of Y which might be because of Z".

It would be helpful if you include error messages.

Example "Address does not resolve", "Could not connect to host", "Certificate is invalid", etc.

Sorry forgot that. It just a generic " IE cannot display the webpage. Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet, The website is encountering problems, There might be a tryping error in the address." All of these are not true as I said I can get to the same site on my desktop which in this case is trying to log onto iGoogle.

Yes no matter what browser or what SSL site I try I get that message, but only at work. I have checked the internet settings and SSL is enabled.

Hi perplexed and welcome to Lunarsoft!

Do you happen to have any Norton or Symantec programs installed?

Posted

No we McAfee Enterprise edition. There are nothing blocking from that, as I seem to be the only one that this is happening too.

In which browser(s) is SSL not working?

If it's Internet Explorer, try Start > Run > xpnetdiag

It's IE, Firefox and Slimbrowser that it doesn't work in. I ran the xpnetdiag and here is the output.

Under Dial-a-fix, go to Tools and choose the "Reset networking interfaces" option and click Go.

Did that and it doesn't appear to be working. Here is the log:
