Administrator Tarun Posted August 5, 2011 Administrator Posted August 5, 2011 A long overdue upgrade is taking place with our frontpage currently. The estimated downtime is going to be less than an hour if we do not encounter any issues. The new frontpage has been thoroughly tested over the past two weeks. A lot of data has been migrated and then a clean install of our frontpage has also occurred. This post will be updated once the process is complete. Upgrade complete!
Administrator Tarun Posted August 10, 2011 Author Administrator Posted August 10, 2011 More updates are occurring to the frontpage. I'm going through optimizing it more and more. Things may appear broken, but they will be fixed. Doing some tests online for the frontpage too. After installing the upgrade, there was a score of 74/100. After a few minor optimizations done tonight alone, the score went up twenty points to 94/100. :)
Administrator Tarun Posted August 10, 2011 Author Administrator Posted August 10, 2011 After a bit more work, it's now sitting at 98/100 for Pagespeed. Working on improving YSlow scores. Edit: YSlow score is now at 90, up from 75.
James_A Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 So, what are Pagespeed and YSlow scores? (I have no idea what you are referring to) .
Administrator Tarun Posted August 12, 2011 Author Administrator Posted August 12, 2011 Pagespeed - Evaluates the performance of web pages and get suggestions on how to improve them. YSlow - Analyses web pages and suggests ways to improve their performance based on a set of rules for high performance web pages.

James_A Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 OK, -- they're both web page benchmarking plugins for Firebug. Now I understand what you're doing to the front page. .
