Capman Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Is it OK to have 3 optical drives installed in a computer? I already have a CD re-writer and DVD drive installed, and I have a spare drive bay. My youngest son wants me to buy a DVD re-writer this weekend, but I am not sure whether I can have all 3 installed or whether I need to lose the CD re-writer. Quote
Administrator Tarun Posted September 30, 2005 Administrator Posted September 30, 2005 Wouldn't hurt. After all, Windows supports drives up to (and past) Z:\ Quote
Capman Posted September 30, 2005 Author Posted September 30, 2005 That's true, what happens after Z though? Quote
Capman Posted October 1, 2005 Author Posted October 1, 2005 AA. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thought I was in the wrong thread there for a moment and you were referring to Alcoholics Anonymous. Seriously though, when I have installed a second drive in a computer that only had one drive originally, there is always a spare set of leads that piggy back off the first drive. Obviously these leads are now used on the second drive, would it just be a case of buying compatible leads that plug on to the motherboard for the third drive?, or perhaps they piggy back off the second drive somehow.
