My long overdue upgrade arrived Saturday (25th). I've been in the progress of getting everything back up on this rig. Intel Corp. attacked the European Commission for being unfair in a probe that led to a record 1.06 billion-euro ($1.2 billion) fine. The key issue in the investigation was loyalty rebates to lower retail prices, Daniel Beard, a lawyer for Intel, told the European Union’s Court of Justice in Luxembourg on Tuesday. But the European Commission failed to analyze “all relevant circumstances” to see if the rebates shut out rivals, he said. The world’s biggest chipmaker is making a final attempt to overturn the penalty doled out in 2009 for unfairly squeezing out Advanced Micro Devices Inc. No date for a ruling has been set. Two years ago, the EU General Court rejected Intel’s first appeal. That ruling was a timely boost to the Brussels-based European Commission, which is embroiled in lengthy probes of search engine giant Google and chip designer Qualcomm Inc. Regulators say Google gave financial incentives to telecommunications operators and phone makers that install its search app. They also allege Qualcomm paid a smartphone and tablet manufacturer to mostly use its chips. Chipset manufacturers have been boosting processing power by leaps and bounds in recent years. Now, Intel is going one better with the next-generation Broadwell-E chip family, its first ever 10-core desktop processor. You heard that right: Intel is going for "10-core" in its branding here, ditching the logical naming progression to "deca-core." Apparently, we don't need Latin with speeds like this chip promises. The company is targeting power users with its next "Extreme Edition" of Core i7 chips, saying they've been designed with gamers, VR fans, content creators and overclockers in mind. Intel calls these users "mega-taskers." Apparently if you're still just multitasking then you're doing it wrong. While Intel is talking the "extreme" talk, the company is more focused on iteration than revolution after announcing last year that it would be ditching its "Tick-Tock" product cycle in favor of a "Process, Architecture, Optimization" model. After upgrading my Psu to 750 Watts and video card from Gts 250 to Gtx 560 Ti, I was checking temps of my video card and cpu. Turn out my video card temp is fine but my CPU temp seemed high to me. I have a Intel E8400 3.0 Ghz CPU, During idling it sits at around 50-60 degrees C, while gaming it jumps to anywhere from 80-95. Is this normal? I have one fan on the rear of my comp on exhaust at this moment. I am also using the heatsink/fan my CPU came with.
