My long overdue upgrade arrived Saturday (25th). I've been in the progress of getting everything back up on this rig.

Intel Core i7 980X (3.33GHz, 12MB L2 cache, 6 cores 64-bit)
ATI HD 5970 2GB -> Nvidia GTX 760 OC 2GB
12GB DDR3 RAM
24" HD monitor
1.5TB HDD (16MB cache)
Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium
Blu-ray 6x and 16x DVD+/- RW

Power supply upgraded from 525W -> 850W Gold Corsair.

That is a really nice system.

Personally I would go with something less expensive, something in the mid-range, because components at the top-end are overpriced and the computer industry moves very fast so things quickly become obsolete.

Doubt you will make use of even half that RAM.

What motherboard, power supply, and case you have with that?

Hope the monitor uses LED backlight.

If you gonna spend that much money, perhaps you should go for an SSD too.

With 1.5 TB perhaps it ought to have larger cache.

Radeon 6xxx is just weeks away.

Sounds nice. Did you build it yourself or was this a pre-built system? Any pics?

It was a gift so it's OEM, but I got to customize it. :)

Intel mobo, 525W PSU, OEM case.

Here's the monitor: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-ST2410-24-Inch-16-Monitor/dp/B002S53CGE

I can finally run VMs with ease again. :P
