ramblinrose Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 :P Hello all, I need your expert help....I have been searching for answers 2 days now. First let me give you infor before I described problems DELL laptop (2 years old) Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 GHz 512 ram Intel Graphics Controller Windows XP SP2 home edition wireless DSL Avast, Alarm Zone (free), windows defender(no real time), spybot (no tea timer), spysweeper, winpatrol (free), spywareblaster, ewido plus, roboform, and ccleaner. These are all programs I installed for awhile. Now here are my problems.... I usually don't use my laptop that often because I have a home pc. I only used a laptop when I travel or updating...2 days ago, Before I could uninstall a program when I noticed something was wrong...laptop has suddenly had no *Remove button* on many, if not all of my programs in Add/Remove programs...That would be 31 with no remove option and oddly, I have 6 programs have *Remove button*!!including all microsoft updates with remove button. I don't understand at all. Also spysweeper, spybot, spywareblaster and winpatrol are not showing in Add/Remove list....I can find them in All Programs except spybot and spywareblaster Laptop is working fine with those programs I installed....only Add/Remove is not I cannot go in registry myself! Too scary in there....Please can anyone help???? I would be very very grateful....hugs, Rose
Monkey Proof Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 there could be many possibilities to your problems but of you could go to the download section here at Lunarsoft and download Hijackthis..save it to a permenant location. run a Hijackthis log and post it here so that Tarun can check it out. EDIT: visit Microsoft to make sure all of your updates are up to date before you run a Hijackthis scan.
ramblinrose Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 I already checked for microsoft updates....about Highjack...do I need to go in Highjack Log thread over there first or right here??? I know you said post it here. Do I need to checkmarked *Show hidden files and uncheck hide protected and hide files* first before I run highjack exe? Thanks, Rose
Monkey Proof Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 go ahead and post the log here so that the topic remains intact for now. it is not necessary to unhide hidden files for the Hijackthis log.

Administrator Tarun Posted June 7, 2006 Administrator Posted June 7, 2006 Log is clean. I would suggest running Dial-a-fix and check the "Control Panel applets" and "Explorer/IE/OE/shell/WMP" options and click Go.
ramblinrose Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 Dial-a-fix? What is that?? Tarun, I am not a pc expert. Please bear with me....hugs, Rose
Monkey Proof Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 you can download Dial-A-Fix from here.. http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix#Light_version
ramblinrose Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 OK Which versions do I need??? Full, medium, or light??? Also which one do I download from? hugs, Rose
Monkey Proof Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 i would get the light version right now..and it doesnt really matter from which site you choose to download from. keep us updated.
ramblinrose Posted June 8, 2006 Author Posted June 8, 2006 I decided to wait until I can't find anything....but I did find out that I believed ccleaner might be responsible. I was using issues back in March when I had saved one entry so I right clicked on merge....ARP improve little but still missing remove buttons...sizes, dates all came back but no remove buttons...I will never use issues again. I wished I had saved all entries from last year but who knew? I had thought everything ok. I don't have back up utility installed so I will have to do that or taking it to the shop...I will post back later. Thanks for help! hugs, Rose
TonyKlein Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I know this is an oldish post, but, for the record, here's how to fix these issues: http://www.winxptutor.com/arpbuttons.htm It does entail editing the Registry though...
kika Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Use Uninstall tool to remove all those applications Homepage : http://www.crystalidea.com/?action=show_page&name=utool Download (NO SETUP) : http://www.crystalidea.com/files/utool16bin.zip
