RTZ Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I thought this may be of some interest, it's freeware and another tool to battle Malware with, http://www.norman.com/Virus/Virus_removal_tools/en This is a utility that may be used to detect and remove specific malicious software (malware). Note that it should not be used as a substitute for running normal proactive antivirus protection, but rather as a reactive tool to handle systems that are already infected. Also there is a Special program to clean computers infected by SinowalMBR rootkit and a Special program to clean computers infected by Vundo there as well. From the Author By downloading and running the program below it will clean an infected system completely: kill running processes that are infected remove infections from disk (including ActiveX components and browser helper objects) restore correct registry values remove references created by malware in hosts file remove windows firewall rules for malicious programs Quote
greenknight Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I gave this a try once. Nice tool, just download and run (after booting into Safe Mode, recommended). Kind of a big download, it's up to 30.1 MB now and keeps growing. Norman's detection rate wasn't that great in tests I've seen, unfortunately. They've been around forever, you'd think they'd have it figured out better. Quote
