My PC is sooo sloww......... 10 minutes to boot up 15/20 minutes to shut down XP Home with MS Office 2003 MS Word takes several minutes to open a window and will often shut it down all by itself. Pentium 4 1.6GHz 256 RAM BT Yahoo Broadband Norton SystemWorks (No it doesn't!) CCleaner Spy Sweeper Spyware Blaster Ewido Spybot MS Antispyware Ad- Aware SE 3B Ad Blocker Windows Registry Repair plus the usual garbage of small programmes for house/fun My wife says my PC is a man because it cannot run two jobs at the same time. Only able to perform one task at a time. If I open, for example, MSWord and Broadband at the same time, it just jams up and I have to shut one down using the Task Manager: this might take twenty to thirty minutes and will usually require a reboot. Much quicker in Safe mode but I have real difficulty in starting Safe mode, sometimes having to reboot twenty or thirty times before the F8 button registers. (I have cleaned it!) Ultimate Predator Posted December 16, 2005 Share Posted December 16, 2005 Why not go to Run - msconfig - Boot.ini (something like that) - tick safe mode. apply/O.K it, then it will give prompt to restart.
