They are both XP so it shouldnt matter. Now go to Control Panel network connections. Now on the left hand side click on, Set Up a home or office Network. Go through those options and click ok at the end or w.e it askes. Then on the other computer, make it connect to the same work group as the network you have just setup. You then need to make sure you have file and printer sharing enable. Now check Network Places.

These computers must be both connected to the same router/HUB. As well has have corresponding IP's such as

Computer 1 - 192.168.1.100

and Computer 2 - 192.168.1.101

You don't need to do that from what I can see, all you are trying to do is set up file and printer sharing now.

Am I right?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Basically yes. but you have to assign them to a workgroup first don't you?

you must assign the workgroups first. Then make sure file sharing is enabled. To check the IP go to Control Panel>>Network Connections>> then Click to support tab, and the Ip Address should be there.

There you wanna check if File sharing is enabled on Both computers.  Then you wanna check your Firewall to see if it blocking it.

Maybe I am setting it up wrong

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

For once I was wrong  kidding.I was setting it up right. It was the nortons that came free on my system that was screwein it all up. I removed it and installed my e-trust and my windows defender and presto. I have 2 networked pc's, access to every file I have, no matter which pc I am on, and printer sharing. This is the s***. punk.gif
