Posted April 19, 200717 yr Yep, I switched when Foxit's search feature for words wasn't working on a document, but Adobe was.
April 20, 200717 yr I recommend using Adobe Reader Speed-up with that, it disables a lot of the "bloat" extensions in Adobe Reader, makes it load much faster. Quick and easy to use, and just as quick to restore the defaults when you need them.
April 21, 200717 yr I'm using it with Adobe Reader 8 (the latest version), it works fine. The changelog for the last AR Speedup update says it should be good until v. 11. Why do you think it's not compatible?
April 23, 200717 yr Do you mind posting the PDF that you were trying to search for text in?.. I've tried the search feature in Foxit on multiple occasions, and have never had any problem doing so... Then again, everything i read in a PDF is usually all text. Also, is Adobe Reader still a like 20 meg installation? been a long time since i've used it.
April 24, 200717 yr Author http://www.earlymoderntexts.com/pdf/humedial.pdf It just didn't work for me. I've also noticed that its easier to scroll (its a bit glitchy on Foxit for some PDF's).
April 27, 200717 yr hmmm yea can't do searching on that PDF... wonder why.. it's pretty much simple plain text. searched for about 5 random words, found none. and searched for "e" and found the first one at the bottom of the first page lol. If i wasn't so picky about the size and bloat of Adobe PDF i'd consider using it, but a standalone 1.8meg exe is just too good to pass up for just a searching problem in my opinion.
April 27, 200717 yr Author Generally I would agree, but as I'm approaching exams and reading and searching through PDF's is becoming important, I gotta keep it.
