Yep - I don't recommend it myself (well there's not really a point since it can't prevent, it can only set things back to defaults).

It can find problems you didn't know about, though... the best section for that is section 5 (Registration center).

So that PC World issue he promised to write is out? :cool:

i used the wrong word - preventative; but i wanted to discover what could be wrong and "prevent" any future problems.

your program found 3 errors.

now to learn what to do. any advice before starting? or tricks?

it is also suggested run "Repair Permission" which is found in Tools Dialogue. xp home will need secedit.exe. (I use xp home).

I am unable to complete system file checker- I need Windows XP Home CD. Files needed to be copied for DLL.

i do not have one- my Win CD is mixed with the OEM Win CD. all compressed and mixed with trialware and drivers etc.
