I need some good software that is free and preferably open-source which will allowed me to backup dvds onto my harddrive. Infarecorder does this, but most of the time the iso is way too big. Any help?

A DVD disc has room for about 4,7 gb.

I guess thats about the size that an ISO image of a DVD would be...

ISO image size varies depending on how much data is on the disc.

How large are your ISO's?

They vary. Most of the time, it is great, always just the right size or under. But I copied Perfect Blue, and it was 6 point somehting gigs.

there is a way to "shrink" your "dvd"'s down to the size needed for the dvd's you purchase in stores. but as this is borderline piracy i won't go into details.

Why is it piracy when it is my own dvd? I have tried DVD Shrink, and it doesn't work.
