start up-- xp pro desk top goes white with ''active desk top restore'' it has ie8 and dial-a-fix will not fix it . anybody have the same thing happen like this ? also some programs will not load too at times thxs

When this happens, right-click anywhere on your desktop, click Properties -> Desktop. Select a different wallpaper image than the current one, then switch it back. This should restore your desktop to the way it was.

Whether it works or not, it sounds like your computer may be infected with malware. Go to the PC Cleanup page and follow the instructions. If short of time, just run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to start with.
