SenutyEnool Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 With your standard pack, are you still advocating Adaware 2007 or 2008? Reason I ask is that I've moved over to 2008 but haven't heard any reports on it's effectiveness. Cheers
Administrator Tarun Posted May 18, 2008 Author Administrator Posted May 18, 2008 It actually contains Ad-Aware SE Personal (Pre-2007). I'll see about providing a teaser screenshot of my application if people are interested.
SenutyEnool Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Sure, let's see whatcha got. That way we can offer destruct .... ermmm.... constructive criticism Cheers
Administrator Tarun Posted May 19, 2008 Author Administrator Posted May 19, 2008 Here's the screenshot It shows how the tree will contain downloads, the information box populates when you click an item, and the status bar tells you your Windows version, including service pack! When you hover the URLs it displays a tooltip with the link, and of course the link opens your default browser. The tooltip hover is there in case of long URLs and someone wants to read the full URL.
SenutyEnool Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Looking really good. How long before we can expect this to roll off the construction line? Cheers
Administrator Tarun Posted May 19, 2008 Author Administrator Posted May 19, 2008 Depends on how long it takes. I know that's not the best answer but it'll be ready when it's ready. Once I get the downloads working and saving to a directory I may release it as Alpha software to a closed group of testers.
SenutyEnool Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Put me down for Alpha Tester. I excel in breaking things Cheers
Administrator Tarun Posted May 19, 2008 Author Administrator Posted May 19, 2008 Alright. I'll let you know when it gets ready.
Administrator Tarun Posted June 13, 2008 Author Administrator Posted June 13, 2008 Progress is coming along nicely. A few more changes have gone in.
Ultimate Predator Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 How are things now? I also look forward to a big list of all the personal software you recommend, like we have in the What Security Programs Do You Use? thread.
Administrator Tarun Posted June 20, 2008 Author Administrator Posted June 20, 2008 Unfortunately since the start of the week I've been fighting a cold/allergies so development virtually stopped. I secretly hoped to have it ready by this weekend to open to a select few private beta testers.
Ultimate Predator Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 A shame, a shame. Well, we can wait, make sure you're better before doing anything.
Administrator Tarun Posted June 20, 2008 Author Administrator Posted June 20, 2008 I'm already working on it right now, in fact. :)
SenutyEnool Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I'm already working on it right now, in fact. Lies! If you were you wouldn't be posting here Now get back to work Cheers :)
Administrator Tarun Posted June 23, 2008 Author Administrator Posted June 23, 2008 I'm opening the private beta. Want to be a beta tester? PM me with the title "Beta Test". Not everyone will be accepted and this will go to a limited few. It is preferred to have members apply who have been here longer than 6 months and are active on the forums.
Zxian Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Looks pretty good. I tried the basics out - selecting a download folder, checking and unchecking files, etc etc etc. One thing that bugged me though was that the download progress simply said "3 of 12". I'd like to know which program is being downloaded. One suggestion for when the bugs in this version are sorted out. Add an option to check the MD5 hash of each file. That way people are ensured a complete and uncorrupted download. :)
Administrator Tarun Posted June 24, 2008 Author Administrator Posted June 24, 2008 I'll be adding the current file name very soon MD5 can come in the future, though it has been considered already. :)
Administrator Tarun Posted June 25, 2008 Author Administrator Posted June 25, 2008 An earlier release is looking very promising. Only one semi-critical bug was reported, and one minor bug. Both have been fixed. Zxian, I'll add your current file name request before the official release. :)
Administrator Tarun Posted June 27, 2008 Author Administrator Posted June 27, 2008 Officially released!
