darn straight add as many of the prevalent ones as possible the uninstallers that are bundled with all the major players applications in this category Antivirus , Suites etc are not so good at doing the job. It's very handy to have separate uninstallers to choose as an option when this occurs.

No other software need special uninstallers.

It seems only antivirus software need special uninstallers.

I wonder why?

Maybe antivirus companies likes to make it as hard as possible to uninstall their stuff.

Pretty bad, I don't think any software should require a special uninstaller.

It's mainly to make sure all traces of the app are removed. Due to how integrated Antivirus and Firewalls are to the Operating System, certain files can't be removed while windows is running. Thus it can create problems.

I've never had any problems uninstalling any Antivirus except for Norton back in like 2003.. But i still run the AV Uninstall tools just to make sure.

Hey I found this today, maybe a handy tool , http://www.appremover.com/ Also suports a large majority of programs, http://www.appremover.com/supported.html

AppRemover is a software application developed by OPSWAT, Inc., which enables you to uninstall security applications such as antiviruses and antispywares from your computer. It completely removes applications and extraneous files left behind.

Easy to use. Once downloaded, simply double-click the AppRemover icon. AppRemover will uninstall any detected antivirus and antispyware applications on your computer. AppRemover will then delete itself from the system.

Use AppRemover:

When replacing one security application with another

When competing security applications tie up your computer

When the application's built-in uninstall process fails

When you have forgotten the application password

Not being hasty.. just stating my opinion.

The antivirus companies have already made 2 uninstallers (1 standard, and 1 incase any problems arise). In my opinion, The AV companies extra uninstaller would probably do better than an app targeted at more than one product.

As a generic example... Who's software would you rather trust to remove Microsoft Hotfixes? Microsoft itself.. or Some random product?

OUCH #@&^% Sorry if you took this the wrong way. Just wanted to provide insight into the developer of this software, I am in no way criticizing your opinion , I was just clarifying that this is a industry leader not some fringe 3rd party. Of course I would trust the original developer. This was a program I felt would further simplify the AV uninstaller problems in one bundle and it has Anti-spyware program removal as well which there are few tools out there that do that. Just trying to help minimize the amount of programs listed for users of AMT.This way navigating it's GUI is a bit easier.

Synapse and I share the same views. I would completely trust an official uninstall tool from an AV company who would know exactly what files and registry keys get written to the OS. Whereas a third party tool has to find all of this information and add it into their tool. One small mistake and they could hose a system.
