RyanJones
TweakUI is also good for Windows too as far as I remember although it has been quite a while since I used it Cheers, Ryan Jones

1984
Heres the thing i am supposed to do to get rid of the arrows. The problem is, i cant find the registry item, and i used search. 1. Start regedit. 2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTlnkfile 3. Delete the IsShortcut registry value. You may need to restart Windows XP. Don't f your system :)

1984
To Remove the Icon: Open your registry and delete the value named 'IsShortCut' from the keys [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile], [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile] and [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut]. I looked for files, and couldnt find them. any ideas? i ran right through the registry.

Capman
If all you are trying to do is remove the little arrow from shortcut icons then I would use TweakUI like Ryan suggested a few posts ago, it is a much safer way to do it. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx You might like it and use some of the other tweaks in it as well. Exactly. If you're going to clean up your reg, use Reg First Aid and Compact (see http://www.lunarsoft.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=311) - should help as well.
