RyanJones Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 TweakUI is also good for Windows too as far as I remember although it has been quite a while since I used it Cheers, Ryan Jones

1984 Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 Heres the thing i am supposed to do to get rid of the arrows. The problem is, i cant find the registry item, and i used search. 1. Start regedit. 2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTlnkfile 3. Delete the IsShortcut registry value. You may need to restart Windows XP. Don't f your system :)

1984 Posted January 27, 2006 Author Posted January 27, 2006 To Remove the Icon: Open your registry and delete the value named 'IsShortCut' from the keys [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile], [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile] and [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut]. I looked for files, and couldnt find them. any ideas? i ran right through the registry.

1984 Posted January 27, 2006 Author Posted January 27, 2006 I ran search. it says "Search is complete. There are no results to display". hmmmmmm.
Capman Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 If all you are trying to do is remove the little arrow from shortcut icons then I would use TweakUI like Ryan suggested a few posts ago, it is a much safer way to do it. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx You might like it and use some of the other tweaks in it as well.
greenknight Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 If you delete or change the wrong thing your computer may not work anymore, to put it simply.

Exactly. If you're going to clean up your reg, use Reg First Aid and Compact (see http://www.lunarsoft.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=311) - should help as well.
