January 26, 200619 yr Author a buddy has a registry edit to get rid of the little shortcut arrows on the icons on the desktop. his webpage has the instructions to do it, but i couldnt find regedit. by the way, how do i make a registry backup?
January 26, 200619 yr TweakUI is also good for Windows too as far as I remember although it has been quite a while since I used it Cheers, Ryan Jones
January 26, 200619 yr Author Heres the thing i am supposed to do to get rid of the arrows. The problem is, i cant find the registry item, and i used search. 1. Start regedit. 2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTlnkfile 3. Delete the IsShortcut registry value. You may need to restart Windows XP. Don't f your system :)

January 27, 200619 yr If all you are trying to do is remove the little arrow from shortcut icons then I would use TweakUI like Ryan suggested a few posts ago, it is a much safer way to do it. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx You might like it and use some of the other tweaks in it as well.
February 3, 200619 yr If you delete or change the wrong thing your computer may not work anymore, to put it simply.

Exactly. If you're going to clean up your reg, use Reg First Aid and Compact (see http://www.lunarsoft.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=311) - should help as well.
