trish4323
I hope that this doesn't make me sound stupid, but does it make sense that, no matter what I'm doing, my computer practically slows down to a halt when Outlook is sending/receiving? Administrator Tarun Posted September 7, 2006 Administrator Share Posted September 7, 2006 Any attachments to send/receive? Is there a virus scanner running that is perhaps scanning your mails?
trish4323
You know what, Tarun...that's very possible. I'll take a look at it and see, that didn't occur to me, and I haven't been using Outlook for very long.
woodbutcher
Sometimes if the scan is on, and Outlook is working; system resource usage will make a large jump up, especially CPU cycles and memory usage. That is a flaw in Outlook that alot of people don't like about it. If you turn off the scan going in and out, it will speed up dramatically. zaphirer
I would recommend Thunderbird as an alternative to Outlook...
Capman
I would recommend Thunderbird as an alternative to Outlook... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, me too. Without a doubt.
trish4323
I disabled the "Spam Killer" and that seems to have made a difference....thanks. As for Thunderbird, I tried switching over to it fairly recently and for some reason all of my emails and addresses weren't imported. I just haven't looked at it again since then, but I will try again and seek your collective knowledge for help when I can better explain what's going on. Thank you, guys. :D
