corjello Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Tarun, wouldn't running adaware and spybot cause problems when scanning the system? such as them finding the same file, then one will delete it and the other wont be able to find it to delete it anymore... if its not a problem, wouldn't running both at the same time bog down the system considerably? And I always run Adaware twice, because it seems to pick up some on the second run.. or has that changed lately?(i haven't had a spyware problem in over a year thanks to this forum mostly). )corjello( Quote
Administrator Tarun Posted November 2, 2006 Administrator Posted November 2, 2006 Thus far I've had no issues at all with it. Anything Spybot finds Ad-Aware usually removes. And if Ad-Aware misses traces, Spybot gets them. Quote
corjello Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 so do you find this more efficient or faster? i would think that because both programs tend to use a large amount of memory, that it would bog down an older system to an almost standstill, but if you ran one after the other, they would be running at full speed.... i duno, just my thoughts )corjello( Quote
Administrator Tarun Posted November 2, 2006 Administrator Posted November 2, 2006 I've done the same on very slow and old machines at work with no issues or drawbacks, but positive results. Two scanning at once is faster than one at a time. Quote
greenknight Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Since you use VX2Finder, does that mean you think the VX2 Cleaner Plugin for AdAware is inadequate? Quote
Administrator Tarun Posted January 3, 2007 Administrator Posted January 3, 2007 Well, I know the VX2Finder works. If you can't get programs to install, the VX2Finder works without needing any installation. Quote
greenknight Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Makes sense. It's just that I already have the AdAware VX2 plugin, I was wondering if that was sufficient. I guess I'll find out if I ever have to remove VX2. Quote
Administrator Tarun Posted January 4, 2007 Administrator Posted January 4, 2007 It was very rare if I ever had to remove it. Quote
greenknight Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 If I never have to deal with it, that'll suit me just fine. :happybday: Quote
Lollan Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I'm curious, do you not boot to safe mode for your removal procedure? Quote
Administrator Tarun Posted March 1, 2007 Administrator Posted March 1, 2007 I'm curious, do you not boot to safe mode for your removal procedure? Generally it depends on if I am at the machine or I have remotely accessed it. Usually I do not bother with safe mode and do the scans from the Admin account and a quick scan in each user account.
