hazelnut Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I just was looking round (as you do) for any info that might be of any help at all to you. I read this about the spell checker in ms word, and wondered if this missing file is any use? Don't be put off reading the first bit about outlook express. http://www.tech-pro.net/howto_010.html
Administrator Tarun Posted January 18, 2006 Administrator Posted January 18, 2006 I'd do a Word repair install, should fix the spellcheck issue. In IE. Tools > Internet Options Under Temporary Internet Files: Settings > View Objects See if any need to be repaired, or remove/uninstall them and reinstall.

corjello Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 did you happen to run an issues in CCleaner before this started to occur? i would say, load up your backup and see if there is a string having to do with word. )corjello(

Monkey Proof Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 in a sense you are right. the spellcheck problem is fixed but i'm still having problems with the windows update page loading. i have IE on default and ActiveX enabled.
Capman Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I remembered today how I helped someone with this problem a couple of years ago on a Win98 Computer. I'm not sure how I came across this fix or whether it would work in this case but it did work on the 98 computer that was having the same problem. Right Click Internet Explorer Click Properties Click Security Click Internet Click Default Level Click Trusted Sites Click Default Level Click Sites Make sure there is nothing in the bottom white box relating to Windows Update, if there is remove it In the top white box type http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Click Add In the top white box type http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/...t.aspx?ln=en-us Click Add Take the tick out of 'Require Server Verification (https:) for all sites in this zone' Click OK Click Apply Click OK
Monkey Proof Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 even tho i have these two links as a trusted site in IE i am still unable to get to the Windows updates http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdat...t.aspx?ln=en-us http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com this link cannot be added to trusted sites http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/...t.aspx?ln=en-us
Monkey Proof Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 after i have giving Tarun and CaPMan headaches over my problem with my problem trying to access the MS update page. i have found the solution with Tarun's help in a prolonged and in depth chat session. the final solution was turning off my Norton firewall. with the Norton firewall off i was able to access Windows update. go figure. now it's time to figure what the firewall is doing to block access. EDIT: i emailed Norton asking why their firewall was blocking access to Windows update. also on a hunch i disabled Norton again to see if i will be able to use Trendmicro Housecall65 virus scan. since i had problems trying to access the virus scan. and of course i'm able to do the scan with Norton turned off. NOTE: i dont need anybody posting saying how bad Norton sucks becouse i already know
Capman Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 When I next get on one of the computers in work which has norton firewall on, I will see if I can find a setting that you need to change. Although you might figure it out for yourself before then. Be sure to let us know if you do.
SenutyEnool Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 .........NOTE: i dont need anybody posting saying how bad Norton sucks becouse i already know <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay not gonna tell ya that Norton sucks just going to say get ETrust Cheers :shocking:
