cz777 Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 It been 1 week of hell with I.E8 failing to open new tads [freezing ups] and links off of pages.e-mail [not opening]! i found two causes so far so is a heads up for all- I.E.8 is NOT so tough but weak knees at best ,what did it was two things atlas dmt with a thing called ''switch dialer ''....i deteted I.E.8 back to i.e.7 ..after 4 months of 8 now it breaks down so easily ,very poor! stay away from 8!
Eldmannen Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 I've experienced slow performance with Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer 8 is more standards-compliant than Internet Explorer 7 though, which is a good thing. I don't think Internet Explorer is a good browser. Not even a decent browser. I would recommend Mozilla Firefox.
cluberti Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Well, to each his/her own. I prefer firefox as well, but IE8 behaving that badly is most definitely some sort of add-on or plug-in (I've seen it many times myself). See if the same problems reproduce running IE8 in no-addons mode (iexplore.exe -extoff) in Safe Mode w/Networking (if you can). If it doesn't, it's not IE8 but an add-in.
James_A Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Getting rid of the Spyware/Adware (atlas dmt) and the Trojan (Switch dialer) is a better idea than going back to IE7. .
greenknight Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Really, IE7 is not more secure than IE8, more likely less. Figure out what's wrong with your security set-up that allowed the malware to infect your machine. I also use Firefox, by the way, with the NoScript extension (which blocks most exploits).

Eldmannen Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Stay with Firefox or Chrome then. I have both installed, but mostly use Firefox with NoScript. Luckily upcoming Internet Explorer 9 is looking like it will be a big improvement over 8 and 7, or so I've heard. I don't like IE 7 or 8.
cz777 Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 i have totally dumped i.e.7/8 ! just for the old e-mail account i.e. 6 but my main browser is opera it works very well ....it looks like microsoft is getting worst by the year too many false starts and dead ends ....just as good as French cars!
Eldmannen Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 IE 6, 7, 8 sucks. IE 9 I think might be good. Don't use IE 6. Use Firefox, Chrome, Opera or anything else instead.
greenknight Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Yes, IE6 is the most insecure browser around. No one should be using it.
Administrator Tarun Posted December 12, 2010 Administrator Posted December 12, 2010 i have totally dumped i.e.7/8 ! just for the old e-mail account i.e. 6 but my main browser is opera it works very well ....it looks like microsoft is getting worst by the year too many false starts and dead ends ....just as good as French cars! You should be running the latest Internet Explorer on your computer. Update at once for the security fixes and other patches that come with it.
Eldmannen Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Yeah, since IE cant be uninstalled, its probably idea to keep IE updated to the latest version even if you don't use it. Update IE to latest version, then use some other browser.
cz777 Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 i went a round my troubles for ie8 to work 1] download it 2] no desktop icon worked just flashed next download this file from softapdia ''Internet Explorer Collection 1.7.1.0 update'' removed all but the ie8 on the desktop ...ok now all is happy but damn microsoft's help was ''0'' over all of this one ....i have two ie8 working back to back for 2 weeks now if anybody else has this pain give it a try ...but my main browser is opera ,you need for update and same sites ie8 ...you gave me ideas how to work around this one ,thxs again
noknojon Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 IE 6, 7, 8 sucks. IE 9 I think might be good. Don't use IE 6. Use Firefox, Chrome, Opera or anything else instead. For a start, you will not get IE9 to work on XP. You must have Vista SP2 or above for IE9. IE8 is a perfectly good browser for XP SP3, and I have used it ever since it was released - No silly Firefox or Opera is needed if you keep all updates and keep your system clean Infections outside of IE8 cause the problems, NOT the browser -

You have no idea what you're talking about, you're a web developer? No, you use your browser for porno. I am a professional web developer who develop both at my workplace and on my free time. I develop both web applications for customers and in-house web applications to be used by the staff. IE 6 and 7 was absolutely horrible. IE 8 is a lot better than IE 8, but its by no means perfectly good. IE 9 is even better, it comes with built-in development, and the WebGL support is nice too. IE 9 still has catching up to do in many aspects. IE 10 is coming, and I hope it will be better. It really sucks that IE 9 doesn't do HTML5 form validation.
