With the introduction of version 1.11 JavaRa a language module is now included. At this moment JavaRa is available in English, Dutch (Nederlands), Spanish (Español) and Italian (Italiano). If you are interested in adding your language to this immensely popular program and want to be an official translator, please contact the team on the Lunarsoft forums to help translate JavaRa! There is a small file included in the JavaRaSource.zip package called 'stringtable.rc'. As you might imagine, this is a list of strings which JavaRa uses to translate the program. The format for translating is very simple: simply replace the ENG_Qx (where 'x' is a number) with the LANG_Qx wh…

JavaRa is a simple tool that does a simple job: it removes old and redundant versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). And it removes some log files and temporary files that JRE leaves behind. Java software in general and the Java JRE in particular allow you to run applications called ‘applets’ that are written in the Java programming language. You probably have Java JRE installed on your computer because these applets allow you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, view images in 3D, as well as many others. As with all software, the JRE is updated on a regular basis. Updates are necessary to add new functio…

The Web Atom and RaProducts today announced that they have entered into an agreement under which The Web Atom will acquire JavaRa. The acquisition will ensure the further development of JavaRa as an open source project. Fred de Vries will be joining The Web Atom in the role of Chief Software Architect. The Web Atom will re-engineer JavaRa from the ground up, utilizing the newest technologies available in Windows. The original RaProducts versions will continue to be made available and provided with definition updates. This acquisition also means that all support of JavaRa will be taken over by (the forums of) The Web Atom.

There is a MAJOR bug in JavaRa - it erroneously trashes the JavaScript keys in the Windows Registry. Fix/Workaround: If you have already downloaded JavaRa, unzip the contents and manually edit the file JavaRa.def. In the current download this file is dated 02-May-2011. You must remove the following lines: 348 through 353, BEFORE running JavaRa The lines to be removed contain the following: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|JavaScript HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|JavaScript Author HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|JavaScript1.1 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|JavaScript1.1 Author HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|JavaScript1.2 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|JavaScript1.2 Autho If you have a different file date, then the line numbers may…

Maybe i'm missing something but am not sure why the logfile is sent to root of C: myself i use JavaRa as a portable app in its own folder on a different partition and i would like the logfile to show up in the same folder instead of mysteriously at C: would be nice if i could at least select the location. apologies if this has been discussed before and thanks for an excellent program. :)

I have used javara it runs, it says nothing is installed. I go to try to download the new java, it says there is a previous version installed and asks if i want to remove it, i say yes, it then says it cannot do it and that i need to remove java from my add/remove programs. I highlight the java 6 21 and select uninstall, it asks me if i want to uninstall, it starts to do something then the window goes away and nothing else happens. I am at a total loss.

I use JavaRa on a regular basis and I think it is a great piece of software. However I am running into a little bit of an issue when using the command line. Before I explain the issue, this was never an issue on version 1.13 (for me at least), but was a problem for me from 1.10-1.12 and again in 1.14. When I go into the command line and type javara.exe -r and it enter javara crashes. It comes up with a dialog box saying JavaRa has encountered a problem, blah, blah, blah. Any ideas?

Just wondering what exactly the -runsilent, --runsilent, and -r option(s) does. I understand that it makes it run silently but does it remove all old JRE's also? I am trying to get this program to work over our network (Ohio State University) so that i can install the most current version of Java and then use this tool to uninstall all older versions. I have been messing around with the command line options and it does not appear that you can "stack" multiple options. What if I want to do something like: JavaRa.exe -r -p -removeSDM The above seems to make windows throw an error Also, is there a command line option to Remove Old JRE's? Ideally I would …

I'm trying to run JavaRa 1.13 using a batch file via a Group Policy (GPO) startup script. I get an error message The Instruction at "0x7c901010" referenced memory at "0x00000034". The memory could not be read. I can successfully test the batch file when I am logged onto the computer but it fails when put into the startup script location in the GPO. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bruce
