  5. No kidding! Everything was seriously out of date as well. His 'C' drive had about 500MB free whereas his 40 GB 'D' drive was almost empty, so I transferred his My Documents to the 'D' drive and then got to work sorting it all out. Hopefully when I give it back to him tomorrow he will be over the moon.

Copyright law were introduced when the printing press became popular. Before that copying a book was tedious labor intensive work. The printing press changed that and made it easy, quick and cheap to copy books. Copyright covers the distribution of a copyrighted work. It does NOT cover the use/usage of the copyrighted work. There is a common misconception that copyright law dictate the usage of copyright work, but this is not true, it only covers the distribution. People confuse EULA (end-user license agreement) with copyright licenses. Often when you install a software, you see an EULA which bounds you through a click-wrap or shrink-wrap contract. I.e you have to …

Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex" is expected to be released in October 30, 2008. Fedora 10 "Cambridge" is expected to be released October 28, 2008. OpenOffice.org 3.0 is expected in September 16, 2008. Lately subnotebooks (also called ultra-portable laptops) have became increasingly popular. Small cheap low-end laptops, such as the Asus EEE PC (which came pre-installed with Linux). Dell are coming out with similar computers, and MSI have their MSI Wind PC which is a ultra-portable laptop. These computers are usually cheap, like $300 or less. At these low prices, Windows adds a quite substantial price to that. This had led to that Linux is becoming increasingly popular on…

I posted this on another forum and just copied it here, so I wouldn't have to type it over. OK, so I want to order a new computer from the factory, a really good one. I call the factory’s on-line store and place the order with my debit card. The order bounces about 3 times for stupid stuff, like the last number of the zip in my billing address doesn’t match what the bank has. After several calls to a very nice young lady in their “Sales Recovery” department, the order gets accepted. Get a confirmation e-mail notifying me of this fact and it list the specs of the computer I ordered, which are wrong. The order had been through several hands and someone forgot to change…
