How did you do that? I though only Kubuntu uses KDE, and normal Ubuntu uses GNOME (what you have). Have to admit, much prefer the idea of having one bar rather than two like GNOME, mgiht give Kubuntu a go.

ZDNet Australia took people to a computer using the KDE 4 desktop environment, said it was Windows 7 to test peoples reactions. The reception was people saying it looks great, and that it is cool. People also complained about Vista. KDE is a desktop environment used on Linux, *BSD and Solaris. But it is also being ported to Mac OS X and Windows, but for Windows and Mac it is in an experimental state. http://www.zdnet.com.au/insight/software/s...39294810,00.htm

Hey, I need to create a database for an organisation I'm with. It is for storing all data regarding uniforms. We keep all of the uniforms in a room called 'Stores' and uniform gets loaned out to people and then returned when they're finished with it. So I'm sure from that description you can understand how the database would be used. Basically, some sort of interface needs to be created where the database user can search for a certain person (to see what uniform they have), a uniform size or a particular type of uniform or a combination of any of these. If anybody is experienced in creating databases (using Microsoft Access 2007) then I'd appreciate any advice on the b…

There is a story on the New York Times about Keith Curtis, a long-time Microsoft employee who worked at Microsoft since 1993, working on things like Windows, Office, MSN and research. He left the company in 2004 because he got bored, subsequently he tried out Linux for the first time, researched open source and wrote the book After the Software Wars. He compares open source software and proprietary software with science and alchemy. Before there were alchemy when people used closely-guarded secret formulas and tried to convert lead to gold, but real science started with the embrace of openness and sharing of information. He argues that in the long-run, Microsoft i…

Does it matter? Both are the same price, both almost have the same features except for the following: Windows: 1.5 GB Windows 2003 web space ASP, PHP, Perl CGI and SSI scripting Microsoft Access and more with ODBC - 1 DSN Linux: 1.5 GB Red Hat Enterprise Linux web space PHP5, Perl CGI and Python CGI scripting SSH secure shell access Direct Push mobile access for Exchange mailboxes Should any of these make any real difference to me? I'm not intending to do anything outstanding with any sites that I put online.
