ok, ive updated the list. A bunch didnt make it in, simply because they seemed for more advanced users and the list isnt really geared torward that. I really liked the chatzilla one. I didnt add Google toolbar for the moment because i didnt really think its that useful on FF. FF already does most of what the GT is made to do, so why are people using it? Ill add it in there if you guys can show me the advantage of it.

Here's what I'm using:

FireTune

According to your specific computer speed and internet connection speed, FireTune will optimize several internal settings of Firefox for better performance. FireTune does NOT modify the Firefox executable, or any other Firefox binary file. Everything can be undone easily provided you saved your original profile configuration file with FireTune's profile backup feature before. Details on what exactly FireTune does canbe found in the FireTune helpfile.

New Tab Button on Tab Bar

Adds a new tab button to the tab bar.

LastTab

Allows tab navigation in a most recently used manner. It modifies Ctrl-Tab to switch to recently selected tabs, rather than always go from left-to-right. It also focuses the most recently selected tab when a tab is closed.

New Tab Homepage

A very simple tabbed browsing extension that loads your homepage when you open a new tab. If you have multiple homepages, the first is chosen.

This is meant to be a lightweight alternative to using Tab Mix, Tabbrowser Preferences or Tabbrowser Extensions for this single feature. If you're using one of those, you do not need this extension.

Download Manager Tweak

A modification of the Firefox download manager that changes its appearance and allows it to be opened in a separate window, a new tab, or the sidebar.

Disable Targets For Downloads

Prevents sites spawning blank windows when clicking binary downloads.

Forecastfox

Get international weather forecasts from AccuWeather.com, and display it in any toolbar or statusbar with this highly customizable and unobtrusive extension.

IE View Lite

This is a cut down version of IE View by Paul Roub, which is 47.4 KB. All the same UI and features are there. It has a right click menu item to open a page in IE and a list of sites to always open in IE. Everything's just been rebuilt from the ground up to be smaller and more efficient. Plus, it has the ability to pass extra parameters to the executable (very helpful for use with WINE), which is not included in regular IE View.

Nuke Anything Enhanced - Right-click any pictures, text, etc. and remove it. Great for getting rid of ads. A necessity for anyone who hates crap.

Google Safe Browsing - Supposed to protect you from phishing sites. I have yet to actually have it detect anything, so Lord knows if it works or not...

PDF Download - Lets you view a PDF in a new tab in HTML, save it to your computer, or open it with your PDF viewing application. Nice lil' extension to have around.

IE Tab - Opens Internet Explorer in a tab in Firefox (who woulda thunk?). Not bad to have around, in case you need to view a page that won't normally work in FF.

Tabbrowser Preferences - Why hasn't this been built-into FF yet?! You NEED this one if you use tabs.

CustomizeGoogle - A very cool extension that lets you improve your Google searching experience. Also lets you prevent Google from obtaining your information, so it's nice for us security nuts.

CuteMenus-Crystal SVG - Gives your FF menus icons. Something like this should also be included in FF. Really improves the interface.

Download Manager Tweak - Gives you some additional downloading options, and lets you change the download window's GUI slightly. Pretty nifty.

Tab X - Gives each of your tabs their own close buttons, so that you don't have to open a tab first to close it. Yet another necessary option that hopefully FF will integrate one of these days.

My Theme is iPox.

i have a question, it seems like many people out there uses many extensions... wont it actually slow down firefox...?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well, theoretically yes. But the extensions are pretty tiny (generally just a few kilobytes), which means that most of them should load almost instantaneously, even on somewhat slow computers. For example, I have a less than fantastic notebook (as you can see from the specs under my profile), and I currently have 11 active extensions that load every time I open Firefox. Even with all of those extensions running, FF doesn't seem to load or respond any slower than when I didn't have any at all.

If you have 40 extensions, you will almost assuredly notice a negative speed difference. But if you are staying within the 5-10 extension range, you probably won't notice anything detrimental.

It depends on the extensions, too. Some are larger and more complex than others. Big, complicated extensions are both more likely to slow you down and more prone to have problems. Install extensions with caution, I recommend searching the Mozillazine forums for information about extensions you're considering (there's a Mozillazine link in the default bookmarks, in the Firefox and Mozilla links folder).

Getting that crappy problem again when if you middle-click anywhere on any page, and then middle-click off of it anywhere, then it loads to some random page where I last had that problem. I can never seem to get rid of this fault, and for the meanwhile uninstalled FF, can anyone help, seemed to happen after installing Tabbrowser Preferences....

Trashed TabBrowser Prefs, and replaced it with Tab Mix Plus.

You will no longer need the following: Mouse Gestures, New Tab Button on Tab Bar, Tabbrowser Preferences.

I also removed Disable Targets for Downloads and so far no issues. Plus it seems they stopped development on it.
