CCleaner v1.28 was released today. It does include the toolbar, so you will need to uncheck the box if you choose to download. I don't know if MrG will release other builds, or not. He isn't saying. CC 1.28 It's 1,408KB in size. EDIT: All 3 builds were just officially released. Yeah! No toolbar. EDIT: Well. This forum is a ghost town today. This is my 3rd edit and no one has seen it. It's for the best because... The download for the slim build says v1.28, but the installer is v1.27. So, that's that.

Wednesday March 22, 03:24 PM Victorian faces Internet hacking charges A 22-year-old Victorian man has been arrested over a series of attacks on Internet services. The arrest is the result of an Australian High Tech Crime Centre investigation into the spread of an international computer virus. The virus took down chatroom services and spread from Belgium to the United States, Singapore and Australia. The man will be charged with using a telecommunications network with the intention of committing a serious offence. ________________________________ Other reports that I've heard state that he was running his own bot farm from home. 5. While Microsoft works on a patch for a critical Internet Explorer 6 script vulnerability that can allow a hacker to take control of a Windows PC, another firm has beaten Microsoft to the punch, releasing its own fix for the problem. The new patch from eEye Digital Security is not meant to replace the forthcoming Microsoft patch, but it does provide immediate protection in lieu of an available fix. It is designed to remove itself automatically when Microsoft's official patch becomes available. Microsoft's official update might not be released until next month, according to a blog posting on the company's security site. eEye Zero-Day IE Exploit Page ("eEye has …

Changelog: * Thankfully, all of the problems triggered by Dial-a-fix were not actually Dial-a-fix's error; it was the new version of MSHTML.DLL that Microsoft released in an optional Windows Update package. * Added a check for the MSHTML.DLL registration bug. Dial-a-fix will not register MSHTML.DLL if it is version 6.0.2900.2838, and will instead present a dialog explaining why. * Box #5's "OLE" section and the "unregister before register" options will both return in v0.58, since they have been tested extensively and found to be safe. https://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix

G'day folks, found this today whilst wandering around on the net and was wondering whether this is worth doing? -------------------------------- Your Antivirus is Dead. Now What? From Mary Landesman, Your Guide to Antivirus Software. F-Prot for DOS can be a real system saver Today's viruses, worms, and Trojans often target your first line of defense, disabling your antivirus software and modifying the HOSTS file to prevent access to your antivirus vendor's website. And these same threats often block access to the Registry and Task Manager, making manual removal all the more difficult. Fortunately, with a little foresight, you can stymie these attempts to g…

Hackers use Sony BMG to hide on PCs Thu Nov 10, 3:35 PM ET A computer security firm said on Thursday it had discovered the first virus that uses music publisher Sony BMG's (6758.T) controversial CD copy-protection software to hide on PCs and wreak havoc. Under a subject line containing the words "Photo approval," a hacker has mass-mailed the so-called Stinx-E trojan virus to British email addresses, said British anti-virus firm Sophos. When recipients click on an attachment, they install malware, which may tear down a computer's firewall and give hackers access to a PC. The malware hides by using Sony BMG software that is also hidden -- the software would have…
