Hi. From Leeds in Yorkshire in a chilly UK. Any PC problems arise from my 11 grandchildren, whose computers reqire my look-at from time to time. At the moment all is quiet ... but come Sunday evening when homework suddenly becomes urgent ... there will be a call. So, its nice to be blissfully aware, that I now have a program to sort all of them out. Well, I hope so. Jack.

  9. Started by David,

Hi everybody, I joined this forum because I want to get more out of my computer and because I'm having problems with a Sony laptop with Vista Business. Specifically, when I click on an embedded email link, I get a message indicating that the computer is not set up for email, and then it opens about 50 windows saying “navigation canceled.” Also when I click on certain video links (M*), IE7 closes and reopens at the homepage. This does not happen with all video links. For example, links on Microsoft’s home page and the WSJ work fine. Sony's online help has been useless. David

 Hi, This is my first time posting a comment, note, etc... on this site. I purchased an eMachine with Windows Vista Home Edition as the OS. I've been having problems with Windows update. It's been a problem for well over a month. Before I shut down my computer, the install updates icon is red and on other occasions it's gray (Well, I 'think' that was the 'normal' color). I sincerely hope there are some empathetic and talented individuals out the who can help a pretty computer illeterate guy. Thanks = )

Prestancia - New on the block. Passing on the following FYI (Hope I'm not presumptuous): Intel revamps CPU lineup Intel Corporation has recently announced the discontinuance of a large number of processors to make room for new models based upon their 45 nanometer manufacturing process. Processors getting the last rites include the nearly gone Pentium D, Pentium 4, and Celeron D. Also approaching the chopping block are the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 and all Intel Core 2 Duo models running on a 1067 MHz FSB. This includes the E6300 through E6700 processors. In the mobile department, all Core 2 Duo models running on a 667 MHz FSB will be phased out in favor of 800 MHz FSB v…

Hi, I'm a new member just saying hello. Have a Dell XPS 400 with Road Runner which seems to be running slower than it should. Also, my partner Marlene and I do quite a bit of cruising if anyone is interested in that. We're Royal Caribbean Diamond members and Celebrity Elite Members, but have also cruised on Carnival, Holland America, MSC, NCL, and even the M.S.Dixie II Tahoe Queen in Lake Tahoe. Robert

Hi Folks Just joined the group. We have a computer club here in our over 50's Village in Hervey Bay, QLD, Australia. Most times we can sort out our problems "in house" but occasionally we are stumped. Current problem that we need help with is related to Updates for XP. User has been updating ok for long time but now the updates do not install. Currently total of 11 downloaded, including several for Office 2003. No error messages, just comes back and says "Not installed" Any help would be useful. Full anti virus scans and anti spyware all come up ok. Thanks in advance Brian

Hello... I joined the forum today, no only am I new to the forum, but just learned about Dial-a-Fix a few days ago and it saved the day for me. Had been working for days trying to fix a mess I created and found the link to Dial-a-Fix on another forum. What I know about this crazy machine I have leaned by trial and error, so if any of my questions aren't written with the correct computer lingo, please bear with me. Have been using a computer since 1998 and continue to learn more each and every day, but sometimes I forget what I've learned and have to ask for help. I'm a almost 76 years old and forgetting things seems to come along with age. Anyway, "hello" to …

Hi Gang...Just had 2 days of PC disaster and then PC Heaven! Below my wife's letter to a Microsoft support person: Hi Maggie, I just got up and wanted to send a "disregard" email on confirmation number: 1043844819 on the MS updating problem, but saw your email to me. My husband had installed a new motherboard/ cpu as my old pc burnt up. Thank goodness he had upgraded my old Win 98 with XP Home retail boxed OS. He built my new PC yesterday with a new MSI MoBo and AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 dual core, he tells me that when Vista OS comes up with SP1, he wants to upgrade the XP machines to it. Well, to make a long story short he saved my hard drives with important file…

Hi Everyone, I guess I am here more or less for the same reasons you all are. I'm having a little trouble with my machine and would like to be able to fix it. I live in Charleston, SC, and am watching the sun come up this AM as I write this. It's going to be another miserable 110+ degree day - just like yesterday. The city was deserted - only a few people walking around and they were tourists thinking they would come to the sea and cool off! HaHa - not in this lifetime..it's probably hotter here than where they were from..the humidity, and we sit in a bowl-like depression, up the mouth of two rivers....it's pretty but very humid and hot. I remember one July we…
