Are you posting about Dial-a-fix? If not, please register and post in a regular Lunarsoft Windows support forum. Before using Dial-a-fix (or any system utility for that matter, including Microsoft's own chkdsk for example) please do the following: Ensure your hard drive has no bad blocks Ensure your memory is free of errors To check for bad blocks, you can use your hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic utility (search for it), Dell's extended hard drive diagnostic (if you have a Dell, that is - and call Dell for support with this), Hitachi DFT (which works with almost any drive and is the recommended choice for most users) or a Linux live CD with the…

Greetings. I hope you can help me. I was not able to obtain Windows Updates. I could not connect to the site. In addition, I was unable to get updates for Microsoft Security Essentials. After much searching and trying procedures, BITS was not in Serices. I eventually was able to have an entry there, but the file required was not on my computer. Thus I downloaded and ran Dial-a-Fix version 0.60.0.24 I checked box 3 Fix Windows Updates. Other boxes in 4 a 5 became checked. The program hung up on cryptography - over 30 minutes. I clicked on the red X, but the program continued to give the message "cancelling after current procedure completes". I opened task ma…

Please like on facebook! Please tell your techie friends to like! Please tell everyone to send money! --- I don't want this to die, and neither does anyone else. But I need financial help if I'm ever going to find time to work on this again. If everyone sends a few bucks, I may be able to take time off from my 17 hour workdays (6.5 days a week) to work on Dial-a-fix. It's because of the work I have to endure just to stay in debt that takes me away from Dial-a-fix. Please help! - DjLizard

I have a few computers which will randomly not load the desktop icons and taskbar on logon. The only thing showing is the splash screen. I can control+alt+delete and logoff. Usually when I log back in the profile loads ok. This is an ongoing, random issue. Can dial-a-fix's registration of the Explorer/shell fix this problem?

It looks like Dial-a-fix won't be developed for Windows Vista. Any chance it may be updated for Windows 7, since this will probably become the dominant OS in the near future.

Hi Folks, Greetings. Appreciate your tools and forum, new to them today. Normally my XP-SP3 puter has 2 users in addition to the Administrator, and there are to be no restrictions. Today: lots of .exe initiation problems Permissions - "windows cannot access the specified device path or file. you may not have the appropriate permission to access the item" UNLESS : Safe Mode and Administrator signon. (Possibly Safe Mode and regular sign-ons are ok, I have not tested, Administrator signon outside safe mode hits the same problems.) This seemed to arise after last nights Windows IE8 hotfix (Note: before this, in general my IE8 does not want to open, sim…

I know dial a fix does not support vista and not sure when if ever. What is best solution to fixing windows update issues on vista? Many solutions like repairing registry with various paid programs are bogus and waste of time. So how does one fix windows updates that won't function?
