Hi! I'm a first time poster. I have a W2K web server that is unable to get Windows Updates and several services (SENS and BITS) appear to be the culprits. Dial-A-Fix seems to be the ticket out of all my troubles. It's taken quite some time already to get to this point. I downloaded what appears to be the latest version of D-A-F from the recommended location (v0.60.0.24). When I run Dial-a-fix.exe I immediately get the following error Dial-a-fix.exe - Application Error The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application. The permissions under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for "Everyone" appear fine: Full con…

Problem: continue to get error message that my vbscript is corrupt (5.7.0.18066) despite the fact that I've run a Windows Registry Repair and it indicates no errors. How can I fix my vbscript? I've also tried your other options in running Dial-a-fix with no success.

Hi We are running 2003 server & have had problems with windows updates (ie locking up before it even gets to the MS website). Downloaded Dial-a-fix & clicked on tools & clicked on "reinstall automatic update service" After re-booting, it allows me to get to the MS website & find the updates required, the when you install, it locks again & need to do above again. Another symptom is when it has locked up, I cannot get to add/remove programs in control panel. Once you "reinstall automatic update service" then add/remove programs comes up. Also in locked state, you cannot shutdown & restart server (task bar locks). Obviously this has hel…

Hi there, I ran d-a-f to hopefully fix some windows and IE updates that don't install. While running d-a-f, the following errors came up (copied in from the log). I ran the permissions tool, but same errors after rebooting and running d-a-f again. Any ideas as to how to fix or what to do about these errors? I don't know if Dial-a-fix fixes any RPC errors. But I think that perhaps you should look into RPC errors to see if it can fix some of those if possible. Because RPC errors are the worst and most annoying errors there is. When RPC don't work, then nothing works, and you cant access the Internet and that just makes it all harder to fix. Worst errors is when System Restore, RPC, Network/Internet does not work.

Hello, I ran Dial-a-fix version v0.60.0.24 on my computer. I'm using Windows XP Home Version. I always have this error message popping up when I start my computer: Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system 32\irmewkcj.dll The specified module could not be found. After running Dial-a-fix, the message is still there. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what to run in order to replace the missing module and get rid of this error message. For the last three weeks or so I have been gingerly tip-toeing around my frelling Windows XP registry, reading and re-reading the mind numbingly pedantic stuff on MS website, and going cross-eyed looking in other forums. But no way could I get rid of the frelling "Windows Installer cannot be accessed ..." error. WHAT A LOAD OF s***!!!! How the hell the people from Microsoft can look the world in the face while allowing that sort of thing to occur is beyond me ... Just ignore their consciences I suppose. Well I finally found Dial a Fix, and it seems to have fixed it!!!!! WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!! Fingers crossed, nothing else will stuff up with the spawn of Mi…

  20. Hey, all, I really hope someone here can help me with these issues: I tried to upgrade my Windows Installer and after I ran the exe file on Microsoft’s site, an error box appeared saying “Access is denied”. So I tried reinstalling the same Windows Installer I currently have (v3.2 I think). Anyway, same result. Then I installed dial-a-fix to fix whatever windows installer trouble I am having. Well, shortly after I ru dial-a-fix for MSI, I get “Event unable to invoke subscribers”. I’ve tried running dial-a-fix multiple times and still get this message. So now I just want to completely remove Windows Installer from my computer and freshly install the newest window…

Just wanted to say what a great job you've done with Dial-A-Fix, and what an incredible resource it is for troubleshooting in my IT job. I am wondering though; it's been over 1.5 years or so since the last release. Does this mean there will be no further updates to DAF? I sure hope the answer is just the opposite!

:) I am using Dial-a-Fix v0.60.0.24 on XP Home SP2 (having very recently uninstalled SP3). I have 3 User Accounts : the in-built Administrator plus 2 Users (called "A" and "B") with Administrator rights. Operating as User "A" : After uninstalling SP3 I encountered a "permissions" issue whereby jscript.dll and vbscript.dll would not register using regsvr32. To solve this "permissions" problem I ran the "repair permissions" 'module' of Dial-a-Fix. The "repair permissions" module appeared to work and solved my problem. Shortly afterwards, I attempted to run "defrag" directly via : All Programs - Accessories - System Tools, but got the following error me…

I have been reading a lot about registry backup and all that, but I don't want to break anything, so I'm really afraid I might. Then I saw the article on wikipedia about dial-a-fix and it being able to solve my problem. I'm much more comfortable using software to change things than changing them myself as I don't take many ch…
