I have a mostly working machine that was a bit flaky so I decided to run a repair install. When I went to input the Product Key (that was used on the previous install and reported by Magic Jelly Bean), the installation refuses the Product Key. I've tried at least 6 different disks and all have failed. I'm waiting for the 7th to complete as I type this. Here's the Product ID information: This number was taken directly from the computer's registry, per the instructions on lunarsoft's wiki. The wiki lists 5 different possible disks: I know the install isn't a Media Center edition. There is no Certificate of Authenticity on the case, so I can't rul…

[03oct09] Green Dam, the program that is said to 'just' censor Chinese internet users but in effect is just plain spyware, has suffered another blow. After the Chinese government grudgingly decided that Green Dam 'had some issues' (read: security holes), the implementation was postponed, probably indefinitely. Schools and other government controlled institutions however are still forced to keep Green Dam on their computers. But freedom beckons because some Chinese schools have started removing the Green Dam censorship filter in defiance of a government order that they should use it. But now the first program that really fights back has been published: Dam Burst 1.2 ha…

I started this topic on another forum and didn't bother to edit it any. I sort of have been here for years anyway though so I don't think it really matters. Ok guys, some of us have been hanging out here for years and if you've been anything like me than you've probably installed/removed hundereds of programs by now. So now I'm curious after all this time have you found your select "set" of programs that you've decided on or do you still switch them out weekly/daily/whatever. I have definitely settled on my select programs that I've been using day in/out for the last year or more. I actually very rarely try new stuff anymore(shocking, I know). So if you've settled …

  25. Started by Tarun,

Firefox 3.5 has been released! I've been using it since betas and even the final is faster. Especially if you do a clean install. Fun tweak to enhance speed: In your address bar enter: about:config For the Filter enter: jit One will be set to false, ensure both are set to: True Restart Firefox and enjoy the speed. Pages are rendering for me in the blink of an eye. JIT is basically the new TraceMonkey that they've been working on. Download: http://www.getfirefox.com/ You can also get it from my Anti-Malware Toolkit.
