Hi, My computer lags when I am on the internet and sometimes when I using microsoft office software applications. My system is clean. No spyware, trojan, viruses, etc. I've run a disk cleanup quite often and also defrag. I run the chkdsk as well with no problems. The only this I can think of that could be causing this is that last year I had to reformat my hard drive and when I re-installed windows xp it installed it to my secondary drive. I didn't notice until later. Other than the lag (which is annoying) no other problems. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance. Eddie

Hi everyone, My PC has developed a major issue with downloading ANYTHING ! I click a download link - doesnt matter what or where, these download links then often open another web page before the start of the download, and I get: "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage" Sometimes I can go back to the previous page and retry.. often they give more than one link, or say if your download does not start in 5 seconds "click here" - which apears to be a direct link, with no 'other'page coming up. IF ok.. the download begins, the a few seconds later: (maybe from 10 to 20 seconds) I get... "Internet Explorer cannot download <program.exe> from <site…

My Windows Explorer (or Windows Shell) has become unstable. If I try to create a new folder or shortcut, I get an error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library - Debug Assertion Failed - Program: C:\Windows\Explorer.exe - File: dtoxtm64.c - Line 67 - Expression:(((long)(yr-1900)>=_Base_Year)&&(long)(yr-1900)<=_Max_Year64)) Not being a computer geek, I have no idea what this means. An ehow contributor posted this suggestion: Visual C can become a very unorganized and cumbersome program with frequent use. This can cause some issues with debugging. Luckily, there is a relatively simple fix available. This fix should restore some usability to the prog…

Every time I restart laptop "windows update" attempts to load new update. I allow it to update and it requires a restart. Each restart starts the same update. I checked "add remove programs" and this update appears in the existing list. I ran Dial-a-fix but problem keeps reoccurring. I am having a verity of problems but taking them one at a time. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm here because a similar problem to the one I'm having was resolved (thanks to Tarun) on this forum under subject: 'WMP service continues to run after closing', on 18 June 2008. The symptoms I'm having are pretty much identical to those in subject post with maybe the following differences: It only happens when playing .wmv files and the WMP service doesn't run on quite as long after closing WMP, it usually varies between 1 and 6 seconds (still annoying since WMP can't be restarted during this time). The problem started after installing a large Windows update. I tried using the resolution in subject post but disabling UPnP along with Windows Media Network service…

Hello, Maybe you could help with an issue. My windows Installer keeps trying to install a program thats already installed. I recently took in my PC because of a internet connection issue. It wouldn't connect no matter what was tried. So I bit the bullet and took it in. It was an easy fix apparently and they had some extra time. So they decided to help me with a re-occuring issue. It seems that the Rixio Media Player that I recieved with my Blackberry software bundle kept trying to install after a reboot. I would use the Task manager and stop the process. I wouldn't have to deal with the problem until the next Boot. Maybe not the best way to handle the issue, But I do get …

Regards to all, this is my first posting and I believe that you will be gentle to me. I am looking for a tool/software that can manage my system registry files. I know that I can get them online but I need to try them before I actually use them so that I can be sure of the results. I have read lot's of reviews and found out that currently, the best registry cleaner on the market is Digeus Registry Cleaner. Any suggestions????
