ok, i hope this is not to obsurb to anyone. i dont even know exactly how to classify this. but web pages download faster when i have a "low" signal at 11mbps as opposed when i have an "excellent" at 54mbps. shouldn't this be the other way around? i currently use fasterfox and it verify's this with its timer. at 11mbps average page loads at anywhere from 5-10 seconds. at 54mbps loads an average of 30-40 seconds. does this make any sense? well, it doesn't to me at least.

Yesterday I updated firefox to 1.5 on my Compaq ME. After I click the icon the page appears blank/gray. I'm also having freeze-ups.

so, baiscally my question is how do i know how fast the processor is on here? i went into manage on my computer, and got this far "Processor - x86 family 6 model 7 stepping three genuineintel [sik] ~497 Mhz" Does that mean its running on less than a gig for processor? after reading djlizards post about norton which i have, how do i view these quarantined logs. when i look through all the log options it shows nothing "quarantined" or "no infected files found" i had norton for a year now and surely by now i shouldve had a trojan or two try and makes its way into my computer but there are no record of anything. more i think about, more worried i'm getting. is there a way to check any kind of log norton keeps that a normal user like me may not know how to check? i recently posted 2 hjt logs which came back clean so thats a little piece of mind there.

Does anyone know of any freeware that does this? If not, what is the best software for doing this (price and efficiency). Thanks! :hug:

What programs read/open other programs? For instance, K-lite codec pack allows me to open/read stuff. Different programs open different formats, and i am hoping to find some good ones. thanks. :hug:

A little while ago I installed a Spybot S & D update, and after I clicked "Immunize" a warning popped up from MSAS. It said that the site syserrors.com was asking to be added to the IE Trusted Sites zone. Of course, I blocked it. Then I searched to find out what that is, finding a number of posts on security forums from others who'd had the same experience. I also had a look at syserrors.com itself. G'day folks, need a wee bit of help with EzTrust. Yesterday I inadvertently hit the remove from system tray button (forget exactly what it's named) on EzTrust, and although it's still running, I can't access it from the systray, was trying to put it into 'Snooze' mode. I've closed it down and loaded it again, however, the icon does not re-appear in the systray. How do I restore the icon to show up as the settings do not allow for it in the main program? Downloaded Shareaza the otherday. However today had a problem in that the desktop shortcut wouldn't work. Went to start-progs, still no start. Decided to uninstall. Did it from it's uninstaller. It went, but in the C/drive programme files Shareaza.exe 3.70mb is still there and will not delete. It says access denied, full or write protected or file may be in use. Any help would be welcome.

Can someone explain to me exactly what it is? I understand that there are lots of "Warez" sites and have been told that you can get viruses from such sites. Not wanting to go to any as i dont want any viruses, I thought i would ask the question here. Thank you. :angry:

i know tarun and others recomend firefox. im not to convinced yet. i just briefly visited the firefox home page and i have some questions now. if anybody can break it down for me, please. 1. how much safer is it compared to ie 2. will i get less spyware/adware if using firefox 3. how easy is it to switch from ie to firefox 4. are there any known issues or bugs with firefox 5. will my computer be more suspectable to attacks using firefox since its all new 6. will i get a better performance with firefox compared to ie 7. will there be any compatability issues with my current anti-virus software im currently using symantic anti-virus/firewall

Why does this keep coming up that my computer has found new hardware when I reboot and it says Etrust new hardware. And a wizard that wants me to download this new hardware from the internet or from a disk. What's up?

ok. i just discovered the ie add-on thingy and in it under "disabled" is a bho called SD.dll and under "enabled" theres one called AcroIEhelper.dll. should i by worried about those?

Hi, I formatted my HDD ystrdy, and did some installations, at that time my Yahoo emoticons were working perfectly they were animated, and i could view the moving avatars on this site too. But then this morning i installed some software, and now i can't see the emoticons moving and i can't see the avatars moving either .... I dont know which of the prgs that i uninstalled caused this, although none of them were related to these programs... Is there a plugin which i must have got rid off? Please help!... which plugin should i now install to get it back?

Decided today to download eTrust and get rid of avg. No problem with download or install. Have updated straight away but there is a red cross on the icon which says virus protection out of date. Yet when I click update it says I have the latest. Any advice please Silly me, just did a reboot and the cross is gone. However anything I should know about eTrust would be appreciated

ok I down loaded etrust and this is what that web site says.... "Please check your email for the evaluation software download link and installation instructions. Thank you for your interest in the eTrust Antivirus v7.1 software evaluation." I've been waiting over 4 hours for that site to send me instructions etc in my email and still nothing. What now? :( And how long is the evaluation?

Ive seen little bits of program out there that you download and they add points of intrest with descriptions, trails through woods, and much more stuff. Well, in my city, we have hundreds of mile of golfcart paths (Peachtree City, GA). Does anyone know of a website where i can get a tutorial on how to make these overlays for google earth? it would be really helpfull for me to be able to look at the paths on GE.
