I decided that since windows 7 is just around the corner it was time for me to get a new dedicated computer for it. I skipped vista and its been a while since I got a new desktop so I figured now was as good a time as any. Parts should be here by tomorrow but I'm not sure I'll be able to get it together this week. (school :( ) I cant get windows right now anyway, so I don't guess it matters. Anyway here is what I got. So, I've gotten the go ahead from my financial department, that being mi madri lol, that we've the funds for a new computer. She wanted to go out and buy one from Best Buy, but I convinced her I could get a lot more bang for the buck by building one myself. I've taken an A+ course and passed with fly colors so I know my way around a computer fairly decently. I had a string of bad luck when we were selecting our parts for the build during the course, coming down with the flue for a few days and I missed everything wouldn't ya'know? But anyway, back on subject. I wanted to make sure everything was compatible with everything. I've giving it the once over and the twice over …

Got a nice little pocket camcorder from WalMart.com. They had a combo deal, AGFAPHOTO DV-5000HD with a SanDisk 4GB SDHC card, for $100. The camera shots video up to 1280x720 pix and 5MP stills and 3x digital zoom. The 4GB card will hold 1hr & 25 mins. of video or 1837 5MB pics. Not much as camcorders go, now-a-days, but it's small enough to stick in your pocket and cheap enough to toss in the truck. Still, the video is quite clear. On the youtube video, click on the "HD" button to see high def version. HD video

I have no idea why this is happening. I can rip music off the drive, but if I put in a black CD/DVD, nothing happens, and all the copying programs ask me to insert a blank CD into the drive, when there is already one in there. Any help please?

There's a number of free firewall distributions out there, such as IPCop and SmoothWall Express. They usually are based on Linux and run happily on hardware that is too old to run Windows XP (or later). I'm thinking of trying one out on some old hardware I have. No fans (except the PSU) and -- very -- quiet! Has anyone had any experience of building/installing/running any of these? If so, how did it go? Which distro would you recommend? .

Can anyone tell me what's going on: This ultra high pitched noise started emanating from my computer a couple days ago... Kinda like the noise tube TVs make when they're on, just on the limits of what you can hear... It's not overly loud, but it cuts in and out. It's really irregular, lasting anywhere from 1-5 seconds... I tried to pinpoint where it's coming from, but no luck... I know it's not the fan, that's about it... Help?

I am starting to not like them. I have worked on 2 Acer Aspire laptops in the past week, they come bundled with so much crap, it is unreal. They have the hard drive split in 2 partitions, which is not a bad thing, except that the people that owned the 2 that I worked on, would not know that they had a second partition that they could use to make their life easier, instead they would probably fill up the C partition and wonder what they do next for more space. If they were more clued up they could do the sensible thing and use the C partition for apps and the D partition for storage. I also don't understand why Acer are still formatting using FAT32 instead of NTF…

G'day folks, I currently have a second PC which is gathering dust and want to use the hard drive in my current system. What I'm after is steps of how I go about installing the secondary hard drive as I've never attempted this before and don't want to screw up my current PC by doing stupid finger faults. Cheers

I've been watching the 'A question: Compatibility with a part?' thread and it's prompted me to ask something. In my computer (which is very old) I have a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200 graphics card. I have a Sapphire Radeon 7000 64mb PCI graphics card kicking around, which I believe is newer than what I have in my computer, would I benefit from putting it in instead?

Ok, so it was requested that I posted this question here, so here it goes. Basically my processor runs at 65-70C while games are up, and basically while idle too, I realize this is very bad, but I know the problem rests in my ''Heatsink'', It's not effective enough. So basically I was thinking of buying a new cooling solution for it this monday, and I have some things in mind, firstly to start I will give a run down of my main parts, because I am worried about compatibility. This is my motherboard: http://www.digit-life.com/articles3/mainbo...eforce7050.html This is my processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103773 I don't know if it's…
